Hey guys im going be doing a 4000 watt grow, Im starting off all new in a basement 9 feet wide 23 feet long and 6 feet high. Height is the real issue. What I want to start off with is what hydro system would be the best for this? I plan to use co2 and air cooled lights with track movers. Have not figured out what I want to do just yet. My strian are og kush #18 super lemon haze and choclopo. I hav a budget of 4000 to 5000

you'll shoot your eye out.

maybe you should start simple... but if you've got the cash, I guess priority one would be setting up an air filtration system.. from there line the walls with mylar.. from there determine how much time you have to devote to your little guys.. from there, keep it small (incase you decide to keep a mother plant and work on clones - that's one thing I didn't plan properly) From there, decide on your lighting (hot topic, I prefer CFLs because it's more cost efficient) At this point, I would order your seeds if you haven't already. Finally decide upon your system (hydro vs soil vs air..)

Just remember, unless you want your house smelling rank 24/7, make sure you have a proper filtration system. I couldn't afford to do that and well, it's something I've learned to regret..

I have chocolope growing right now (if thats what you meant) she grows tall, fast, height will be an issue if you don't top her. Flower her at 1/3rd her maximum allowed light with room for a canopy. I'd consider either EBB n Flow (easy to isolate and manipulate plants if need be) or DWC. One large res leading to a few separate pots would work well. Those are pretty inexpensive and will be easy to work with. With the spacing you have, I'd do a sog or scrog to make the most of the width of the room you are working with.

CFLs are not cost efficient in my opinion. I'd go with a proper HPS system or MH for veg, HPS for Flower. Way better lumen per watt ratio, you can easily throw that on a track and have your exhaust fan(s) pulling the heat out easily. you will want a crap load of negative pressure in that room, so your exhaust must be bigger than your intake fan(s) and the venting should cycle everything out of the room every minute to keep it sterile.

IMO- Do co2 last. Yes it is awesome and will increase your yield, etc, but you really want to focus on your proper environment first and making it perfect. THEN drop the co2 in there and watch the glory unfold.

True, but I think with that amount of space, 4000w would be overkill regardless.. but the radiating heat would be very difficult to manage. Again, just trying to be helpful..

Hey man, there's a lot of ways to do this stuff, no worries. And I think that 3 evenly spaced 1000w HPS lamps on tracks could be epic. With 4- 250w MH lamps evenly spaced out as well to give full spectrum and a nice amount of light. In my 7x4x4 tent we have a 1000w and its results are insane. I think that amount of light, with the space he has would be more than fine, lumen count per sq foot that is. A room 6x9x23 is pretty freaking large IMO if dedicated to solely growing. If he gets 4- 6in or preferably 8in exhaust fans sucking out the heat from each of those HID lamps the temp shouldnt be too bad to deal with. Again in my even smaller tent 4x5x2 with a 1000w with 1 small cold air intake and 1 slightly larger exhaust(sucking out the lamp) our temps never gets lower than 66 and higher than 74, with that extra ambient airspace he has, he would have enough room for quite a bit of light without much temp fluctuation.

Also, I taught a class on hydroponics, so please feel free to PM me and I'll literally give you all my knowledge. I wouldn't be where I am now with out some serious assistance, so I really believe in pay it forward.

Hydroponics can be complicated if you don't know what your doing. Measuring ph levels and manually adding certain nutrients. If this is one of your first indoor grows i would recommend soil, it makes things more simple.

You should always check pH no matter what medium you use. I had 11 year olds testing the pH and running the entire set up, the entire thing once I put it together. The school is getting a sustainability grant because the students show that they can even do it... most of them cant even read at a 2nd grade level. Hydro doesnt have to be complicated. Ebb n Flow is as easy as it comes IMO. Mix in nutes off of what it says on the bottle and work up from 1/8th strength to 3/4 strength. I never use full because it typically is to much for the plants. The companies suggest too high of levels for what is typically necessary. Not to mention the more you use the more you buy. Too many growers brag about using these full lines and tons of nutes, but it does not always get you better bud.

ok boys so I have done alot of research. Im doing 4 1000watt air cooled on track movers, I have a seperate room for mothers so thats fine> the whole room will be vented threw the wall on the other side up threw the chimney. Im going do this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cLeJPl3Ml0. I bought the meter that stays in the water and reads ppm ph and water temp. I just wanna figure out things like what nuts I should use how many fans and the size of the vent. Ac info and Co2. Stuff like that.. I have more but I can ramble on for hours and I have to work at 7am and it is now 12 lol.

Best of luck with it all man. Post pictures soon, even of just the set up. I'd love to see it all in motion (pun).
