400 watt 2.5x2.5x5 bubbleicious and freebie grow

Ok so here goes....this is my second grow, first was cfl bagseed jus to get the kinks out. It has been awhile tho i was in between moving an jus didnt have a stable residence to put down some roots:)...anyway im good to go now and i figure with the unbeleiveable amount of info this site has givin me a grow journal is the least i could give back. So heres the specs...

Closet:2.5x2.5x5 techsheild ply(this stuff is great)
Light: 400watt hps/mh w/cool hood
exhaust:240 cfm can diy carbon filter combo(cools to where i can almost touch the glass comfortably)
Input:ducted directly to my house ac(70-73f airflow)
Medium: 4 or 5 bubble buckets not sure yet prob 4
Nutes: general hydro flora
Strains: nirvana bubblicious fem and nirvana freebies

I dont think i missed anything but ask away, currently i have about 10 going (5bubb 5 freeb) and they are still little sprouts. Reason i popped so many.......ehhhhhhh well my first grow was so easy not a problem germed em they sprouted an they grew like mad(i went hydro first grow, same specs as above but cfl) These NOT so much.......the one u see in the neoprene wit net pot is like 15 days old:( ..... In the start i germed two fem bubbs an figure sweet hopefully 2 diff fenos an some nice mothers to take clones from they grew well but i couldnt get enough light on em(security issue jus bad luck) but hey replanted em in rwool up to their chin an threw em in 5ish ph bubble bucket under 4 23watt 6500ks wit dome.

Now im not really freaked cause they look healthy its jus the growth on the first two completely stopped(im guessing this is them healing after transplant and settin up some roots which are growing but slowly)...any thoughts?

The others u see are between 2 an 3 days of breaking ground. They do have purple stems(extremely purp on the youngest bubb) but ive read bubb can have purple stems stemming:) from their genetics......yet the freebies have the same but not nearly as bad.....so im going to pin this on me being alittle too eager with the watering. Ive since let them dry alot(still damp)....i also had some probs with evaporative cooling making my rwool temps super cold ive since shut the fans off but will add them again to stregnthin the stems once they start to pick up alittle more(ac still circulates air).

So thats where im at....this is an awesome hobby and hopefully this time around i will be rewarded with some good results.....mj plays a big role in my life an this grow is entirely for personal stash which i figure the 400 will supply me with adequite supply(hope for 6 dry any more would be awesome)....

So please any and all insight is welcome as long as its friendly:)

Thanks alot!!

Forgot to add ive searched and searched(been a dweller for years now but i dont post just read..an read.....and read:))...could you guys please give me some tips on keeping sprouts in rockwool....heres what i do...

Soak in ph'd water then take them in both hand supporting the bottom an wip them into the tub till very very little water comes out leaving them damp then bury seed....i beleive i have this right but when should i water them? I no this is a hard question to ask an a harder one to answer....but if this helps any they are very light yet if u put your finger on the bottom u can feel the moisture...top is alittle dryer cause of lights but push in a tad with a finger n theres moisture...

Im probly jus overthinking an being anxious but i really appreciate any comforting thoughts

Thanks again!

Would you please post a few more detailed shots of the room itself. I'm trying to see exactly how you are set up. It looks almost like what I want to try and set up.

Thanks

Thanks guys....bigpoppa-ill throw some more as i go i cant really post em easily unless i do it wit my phone which im not going to do.....but the box is basically 2.5 square 5 high...two 6" ports top an bot diagnal from each other....carbon filter an muffler are mounted top along the back on bungee cords with neoprene supports....lamp is mounted diagnal so it would fit wit the 6" ducting......i would highly suggest finding techsheild(lowes) its ply cover in mylar i built the whole box for $20~ i did have the screws tho...really makes thing easy not having to hang reflective material an havin a rigid box is always easier....this setup gives me around 4 foot of usable grow space(keep in mind my cooling system allows me to keep the lights within a few inches)....any other Qs feel free to ask ill have some more pics ina few days to a week

What kind of yield are you expecting per harvest? How many ladies can you fit in there you figure? I am debating several ideas and locations in my home. I have to be fairly stealth, I have a teenager who would indulge......whatcha gonna do? :wall:

Thanks for the rep! Ill give you one back how do i do it?...

Well from the countless threads ive read 8 isnt a crazy number to get outta a 400 if done properly...very even canopy and a strain that produces relativly well...which the bubb produces some seriously huge colas:)....im leaning towards 4 trained (topped lst'd)plants since this is personal im really focusing on quality not quantity....tho this amount of space will fit 5 five gallon buckets which if done that way with a sea of green method you could possibly fit 10 single cola plants an who knows you might hit 9 or ten z's off that but thats in the .7g a watt range which from my knowledge is an outstanding yeild!(this was my first plan ahhh still on the fence really an slowly incorporate perpetual)

As far as stealth this box is very well sized u could simply locate the door on the side and put a few false drawers on the front or somethin for a few extra $$.....or jus put it in a closet like me with a lock on it:).....i would also suggest the can fan i have theyr on amazon 6" 240cfm bout 26$ sucks some serious air an with a space this small you really need to utilize your space.....i can keep may hand comfy around an inch away from the glass on my reflector!!

This slow growth thing has been killin me just looked up the different chemical levels in the drinking water in my area .....turns out the chloramine levels average 2.7! Ive read this can be devistating to plants but ive also read that by the time it reaches the tap its very low:/.....anyone have any insight on this???

****did alittle more digging the area i did my last grow in had similar levels of chloramine an i did dwc with beautiful results.....looks like im sticking with the overwatering diagnosis:/

Happy growing!

Thanks

I've never had any luck with tap water. I usually get 1 gal. jugs of distilled at the store for a buck. I mix my nutes right there in the gal. jugs and just use a sharpie to label the jugs.

Hey Rick, I'm starting a similar grow so ill definitely stick around.
The water could become a problem later on in the grow if you have chemicals building up. I usually get my water from one of those water stations, don't know if you have one in your area..
About the rockwool, as long as its not dripping wet you should be good. Give it a little squeeze and if a couple drops come out you don't need to water yet.
Good Luck!

All i can say is holy crap haha:) put chloramine remover in my bubble bucket with the original two bubbs an theyr roots exploded. Grew more in one day than they have in two weeks. Its like i flipped a switch:)....this has been killing me lately an an its been an unbeleivably slow start but now im seeing some progress:)

Hopefully i dont see any herms from the stress but only time will tell

Pics to come later today.....peace an nugs:)

the fan is taken down because i had to remove the carbon filter, didnt do much for temps....im guna put it back up without it and do another run maybe having it down low is limiting the amount of hot air it gets rid of and its all rising/accumulating at the top...see what happens
