400 or 600w (lighting question)?

Hey RIU!

I have been growing for quite some time now. I have managed to get rid of all weird problems, and find a strain of choice which I love (Paradise Seeds "Delahaze"). I grew out a mom, and pretty much mastered the "art" of cloning. Out of the last 65 clones, I have only had 3 not root on me.

I have started to notice something though... I grow amazing, beautiful bud which packs a great punch, but my buds are not heavy. Even the biggest tops weigh in at like 7-10 grams dry.

I am growing in an 80 cubic centimeter grow box, with plenty of exhaust and circulation. Inside I am running a 400w Phillips SON-T PIA, which I was told was the best blooming light brand currently on the market.

I was wondering if it would at all be possible to get a 600w lamp for the same space instead of the 400. I never have any light burn, and I have about 60cm of height to spare. I have a big fan rotating and blowing air over the tops at all times when the light is on.

So I guess the questions are, (1) is it possible to run a 600w in a 80cm2 space (2) will I see a noticeable increase in yield?

Now for some bud porn ;) First a shot of a top from one of the girls, and then a delahaze bud shot grown under my 400w hps from clone drying for 3 days.

Thanks in advance for the help guys, and I am really looking forward to reading your responses. My finger is itching to hit the buy it now button on ebay for a new 600w light+ballast combo.

I did use 400 for almost 20 years before the 600 and I did just fine, but now with the 6s its better, I will tell you one thing for sure your strain makes all the diff. in the world some are light and fluffy and some are heavy and Dense. so your strain matters quite a bit. Press the Buy it now Button :)

Thanks Bear! Now my buds are dense as fuck! They are just not heavy... A gram breaks up into what looks like 2.

and to be EXACT, my grow box is this (80cm x 80cm x 160cm): http://www.homebox.info/Homebox/HomeBox-Classic/Homebox-S-PAR-80x80x160cm::56.html

My exhaust is: http://www.baumarkt-gartencenter.de/epages/64078883.sf/?Locale=de_DE&ObjectPath=/Shops/64078883/Products/101071&ViewAction=ViewProductViaPortal&gclid=Cj0KEQiAl7KmBRDW6s-Xi_uT9OgBEiQAZdbbSUT2txZ454iPSoLFWHCLecs0243trEjZRqO77sRT1hsaAtTs8P8HAQ

and I also have a circulating fan hanging from the top: http://www.amazon.de/Tabletop-Speeds-13-15-x11-1-x19-1/dp/B000EFJ8Z4

Can I run a 600w in there safely with all of these precautions? Also, all of my bottom vents can be opened. With the 400 and my fans on, I only have 1/3 open, and I have yet to get a single burn!

Thanks again :)

OMG it is f*****g awesome. It is only a bit hotter than the 400, but I have it exactly 18 inches from the tops, and the conditions seem IDEAL!! Will report along the way. I know you guys hate the pics with the lights on, but I had to ;)IMG_20150203_182909.jpg

80cmx80cmx160cm. 600w Phillips SON-T PIA. Extraction via carbon filter. Oscillating fan over tops for extra cooling. 9 plant perpetual system. harvest 2 plants every 3 weeks or so. Basically as one is finished, I already have a vegged clone ready to go. No real system for it. Just one strain now. This pic is entirely delahaze, as I chopped my last flowering chocolope yesterday.
