400 hps in a 430 ballast?

Has anyone here tried this? My 430 bulb died on me and all i got is 400s layin around but dont have the ballast. Plus those 430s are expensive

I have an older hydrofarm powerhouse 430w hps ballast and I am using a 400w hps bulb. Haven't had any problems, been using it for a while now. Some ballast's are different, maybe someone else will chime in.
