I have a closet that im planning to convert into a grow. Im going to do dwc as my growing medium. should i veg in a box? leave the main space for flower?

I will be adding some sort of charcoal filter to the exhaust. filter>fan>duct>housing.


I will be vegging using cfls and strip lights. i was thinking of a 400 watt or better hps for flower when money allows.

the plants can get as tall as the lights will allow. I live alone and as long as i deal with the smell it should be cool.

I could use tons of tips, i used to grow in a stealth cab and things are way different with this much space.

What I would do it turn half the room into a bloom room and the other half into a veg mother clone room.

But be able to seal the bloom room as you don't want your light hitting your flowering plants during bloom time.

Seeing as how your closet is 4 feet deep I would get nothing smaller then a 600 watt HPS and make your bloom room 4x4 leave a 2 foot walk space and another 4x4 for the veg/mother/clone room.

Is your door dead center or close to the center of the closet? if so I would do the 4x4 to the left and another 4x4 to the right leaving the door walkway open. Shit build fake walls and you still have what looks like a closet. just behind the walls on the right and left are hidden 4x4 rooms for your goodies.

i like that idea but i am not understanding how to seal half a room. the wall idea is good but i need a few ideas which split the room without building walls. wouldnt making a grow box for veg easiest? i could light proof it and veg my mothers in thrt so i can say fuck femmed seeds. ill use a taller box if i can find one. hang cfls and strip lights in there.

im open and appreciate every reply!

You could use poly with velcro and make sure it about perfect to seal the room. Poly on the right and poly n the left for the walls. Or even a heavy black plastic to split the rooms. Get the exact measurement for the room and build a box in the 4x4 space or even buy a cheap tent to place in there for the bloom room they are usually 98% light tight. Not entirely sure how I would do it. But would be some sort of plastic or a tent if it fits.

the only reason i think about the plastic is the flower plants can grow as tall as they want. in a tent height is always a factor at my budget. I have to cut costs where i can. the closet is extremely dark and Velcro should make it safe.

the door opens in so ill use thas half as thr flower room. Ill hang the hps off the ceiling with rope so i can control the height. Im doing dwc bubble buckets and im wondering how many plants a 600 hps will support? im wanting four large plants in flower and 2 mothers in veg area. rhings will stat with femmed seeds till i get my clones up and running.

4 to 8 plants I do believe would fit under the 600 watt hps. I was running pretty much the same thing for my next grow 4x4 with a 600 watt. I was going to bloom 4 plants for the first grow and may be 6 the next. and velcro will work as long as you do it correctly. You dont want any light getting to the flowering plants.

this is an interior closet so ventilation is going to be tricky. its a rental so i cant cut holes in the ceiling.no attic either to vent to. besides fans what can be done with the heat besides a cool tube to outside. im thinking about going with a low smell strain until i figure this out, maybe evn an autoflower till i get my hps

look on craig's list for a dehumidifer. Otherwise the walls will start to mold. You could buy a cheap replacement door that you can cut holes in. I like to use hydro trays as my drain pan to keep things clean. You can also make a fake wall out of pvc and a tarp or black plastic. Save up for a temperature and humidity switch to control your fans. You could always put a large ( 2'x 3' x6') cabinet in there for vegging. Say 3 shelves with one T-5 per shelf (6 plants). For as small as you are growing, I wouldn't have more than one mother. You will only be taking 4 to 8 clones every 2 months, leaving you to maintain 2 large plants.

two bubble buckets will mold my walls? even with fans blowing? im thinking of buying a roll of panda film and cover the walls, would that help? theres paneling in there now.

Ill eventually work up to a mother, for now im going to start with two plants start to finish.

i will make sure its good and attached to the walls. i will have to save up im guessing for a roll. i will get a hydrometer and see how the closet will react to two 5 gallon buckets of bubbling water. thanks i didnt even think of that.

For a lot cheaper you can put up 4'x8' styrofoam insulation board ($15 at Homedepot). Reflective on one side and white on other. Comes in half inch to two inches. Could also be used as a wall. The humidity will be from the plant transpiring. I would start with four. Or do two now and add 2 every month. I harvest 4 every 2 weeks in an area about the same size.

damn thats a good idea. should i just use it around my grow area? three walls and possibly a wall/door. by grow qrea i mean the flower corner and the veg corner
