4-5 Ton AC recommendation

I've got to build a shelter and stand of some kind for whatever I get the snow here in winter is nuts.

That's what I thought he meant I still think those inside ducted units look to be built better and I can't see a down fall to running one of those without duct work. Would there be any issues?

Yup. I’m in Norcal where we get many tripple digit days in the summer. I would not go less than 5k/1000w de

It wouldn’t distribute the air very good. It would just blow straight out.
The floor/ceiling mounted handlers have a flap that goes up and down and also blows the air side to side ;-)

I always redo factory flares.
No need to buy anything more expensive.

As long as it's 45 degree angle. The r410a units I have worked on all have the 5/16 - 45 degree flare.

yeah my gauge set is the fieldpiece digital SM480V with thermo couples lol. It's bad ass. you can even use wireless thermocouples on the inside unit and shit. it's hanging on my coat rack by the front door. I always checkup my units before each run.
 
I'm thinking I built this whole fucking building out minus the shell so I should just quit being afraid of the flares and install it myself. Hell the worst that could happen is paying someone to repair my leaking line sets that has to be cheaper than a full install I would think. I plan on being in this for the long haul and need to figure it out like @Renfro so I can service them myself.

Using nylog and no torque wrench you think is better than torque wrench? That was another tool I was adding into the cost of doing myself.
 
The shitty thing about servicing these minis is that you can't just read your gauges and know where the charge sits at. So if you think you are low you gotta use a recovery pump, tank and scales to weigh out the charge thats still in the unit. Then you can weigh in a full charge weight with a liquid charging adapter.

Honestly I think that anyone with a feel for wrenches can tighten a flare without a torque wrench but some folks do have the need to over tighten everything lol.
 
Plus on my mideas, on the evaporator units (indoor) I couldn't fit the torque wrench in the area they provided inside the fucker where the fittings are lol.
 
Such tight clearance that I could barely turn the wrench enough that if you flipped the wrench you could get back on it and get a tiny bit more. It was tight in those mideas. Plus you want two wrenches, one to hold their fitting thats got a little short pigtail so it wont twist up inside the unit.
 
I'm gonna go look at 36k btu mitsu units now you think that will cover the 8 lights and dehuey?. I have 200 amp service for just this building and the only other thing going is a veg that won't be more than 3k watts or so of cmh if that. I haven't done the math but I'm thinking I should def be able to cover both rooms going at once as far as amps go. That would mean that the outside temps won't be very high (running at night) so hopefully that would help the AC perform better.

I'll also text the guy I got doing a quote to see what 2 of the 36k mitsu would cost from him just to see for warranty purposes.

Like I said, it's gonna be tight with anything more than the lights to cool. If your dehuey ends up running when the lights are on then all bets are off, especially if it's a big Quest lol. I have their dual 205 and I wouldn't expect that and 8 DE lights to run under 3 tons.
 
If you put the rooms on a flip then you free up a lot of power. I even flip my ac's. I have a 150 amp main and two 10kW flowering rooms plus the veg room. I had to run gas lines to change the range, hot water heater and dryer to gas so I could free up my power. I pulled 125 amps to a subpanel in the basement that feeds my whole grow.
 
Well I'm set up right now for 6 lights anyways so gonna grab one 36k to see how it does I have some extra lights I'll hang in there and see if it keeps up before deciding on the second room. I kinda like the spacing I have now any ways for the de and was thinking of supplementing with some cmh or led instead of adding more de anyways.
I'll just add a second smaller mini to this room if and when I decide I need more.
