4 23w CPF lights sufficient?

I was just wondering how long 4 23w CPF lights in a small 30" X 15" cupboard will be enough light for 12 seedlings in jiffy pellets before I need to switch to something stronger like HPS.

do you mean CFL i guess Compact flourescent lights and CPF compact flourescent could be the same. well for seedlings i would only keep them under that little of lighting for at most two weeks. i have at least 1 CFL per plant. as they get larger the lights will not be sufficient at all.

Your gonna need more lighting pretty damn soon bro cause those will stretch

i used 6 23w 6500k for these 7 plants for 25 days. to around 10" tall. got pretty crowded still have 3 under the same light day 30

Put the seedlings as close to the light as possible to limit stretch. They can be 1" away or closer without burning them. The 4 lights should be fine for a while. I use 4 23w lights till my seedlings are 10" tall and then I veg with 8 23w bulbs for 8-10 plants till they are 2 feet. Cfls put out plenty of light for vegging but I flower with a HPS. ya i meant CFL. dont know what i was thinkin then. But ya i started a few seeds, just some from a the bottom of a bag, and after about a week they were 1 1/2 - 2 inches tall and all of the sudden one morning they were just tipped over and dark green. they were pretty weak im guessing

They probably weren't weak you just didn't know a whole lot of what you were doing. I have a cfl grow going and a slightly bigger set up with some mh/hps going and I have 10 cfls and 4 4ft fluoro tubes for 3 plants and that probably wont be enough to flower sufficiently. How long were you planning on growing in that 30" X15" box? make sure to keep the temp around 80f...Don't Over water or over nutrient....keep the lights about 2-3 inches above the sprout till they get about 3inches then you can move the light about an inch away....put your hand under the light and chances are if your hand doesnt' like the heat your plants wont either.
