So heres what Im working with:

Room : https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/102510-3-stage-full-service-4-a.html
Strain : Marijuana Strain Library - Purple Kush

I have had this strain for some time now and have yet to do a log on it. This will be the last generation six set as new mums have already been selected and potted.

The quality of smoke that these things give is spectacular but since I have been running the flower side in soil and under a 400w light they haven't been anything to write home about LOL. This will be my first run with them in hydro and to top it I just got a 1000W light. So my hopes are high that I will be seeing a MUCH larger yeild, and I hope you'll join me. =)

So here's the first batch of pics. I didn't get any pics of them in the EZ-Clone, which is where they started, but here they are in the tray that will move with them to the flower side in about 2 weeks.

Also is a pic of one of the old mothers hanging around till all is well with her replacements to the left. Her sister has already been moved into the flower side and she will follow.

My Room got a MAJOR overhaul last night; check it out.

So a few nights ago the clones went into 4" cubes pic one.
Last night was a long one and I didn't get into bed till 5:00AM
End result is the noobs are now vegging under the 1000W.

Alright they are now set for the long haul.

After much research I have decided to go with 6"x3"x36" Rockwool Slabs under my 4" cubes. I was really leaning towards the Hydro Clay but decided that throwing a block in the green waste can would be an easier cleanup. I hate those little balls, but make good soil toppers.

So here we go left to right.

First is a pic of the 4" cube cut into the top of the slab.
Second decided to cut the count down to 9 for evenness sake. This puts 3 plants per slab.
Third is a temperature reading of the foliage.
Fourth you can see the Rockwool Slab.

Please note this will be my FIRST TIME flowering in hydro so comments would be appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestion on the strain, seems like it could be good for a (mini) SOG setup that I am planning.

In the meantime, I'll be watching your progress :) Good luck with the hydro! I may get there some day but until then, I'm sticking with what I know: dirt. lol

Trust me I know the feeling when it comes to soil. I have been growing in soil for YEARS, with the occasional attempt at ebb flow but ill equipped and domed to fail (Where was the internet 10 years ago LOL), and allot of hydro for cloning over the last couple years.

As for the Purple Kush it is a very good SOG strain I have grown them everywhere from literally 6" at harvest to 2' at harvest and they are a very slinder strain.

This girl is outside and has two main stocks.

Just did my first res change and started week three nutes. Decided to take some close ups of each of the girls.

They are numbered 1-9 for the noobs, M1 & M2 for the new mums, generation 6, that will give off generation 7 for the next run, and the generation 5 mum is the big girl whos fate is yet unknown.

Maybe flower maybe play with with the ez clone and rockwool plugs....
I don't know.
Maybe even just let her bud =)

Hey man I am growing Purple Kush now and had a question for you.

How long did you let it flower? I am almost to week 9 flowering and I am at 90% cloudy 10% amber and the main cola is starting to turn purple. I pick a little bud to try and it was a happy head energetic high and I am looking for more of a couch lock high. I know all the when to harvest info but I was just wondering since you have been growing this strain for a while how long to you wait to harvest?

I have taken them down at allot of different times. I don't really know exactly on any of them, as this is really the first time that I'm really logging everything. In the past I had soil and it was kind of like check on them and feed them every few days till they were ripe.

If I were to give an average I would say right around seven to eight weeks, but thats kind of why Im loging this time. I got to the point that in soil that the buds were of constant Quality & Quantity and I am now trying to improve them both by adding more control of nutes through the use of hydro, adding more light (1000w from 400W), and getting down to the little things like how many day they have been in, toping, and so on.

One thing I have found is turning down the temperature to about 65 degrees during lights off for the last few weeks really brings out the purple.

I would like to see what they look like do you have a pic to post here?

These are at week 6 flowering
I will have to take some new pics to show the purple.
They look just like mine have =)

FDD2blk posted this pic

And that is what I want mine to look like at the end of this run.

He grew it outside in California and harvested around Nov I think.

Wow those are purple! So if he harvested in Nov in CA then he went a couple weeks over. Typically you harvest in late OCT in CA but you probably already know that. MMMM those look yummy!

So I am going to try and take pics daily of the tray and put together an animation when they are done =)

This is number four.
Woo, that should be cool to watch when you're done!

With those pics you and iamthatguy posted yesterday and what I've read, I think I'm going to go with Purple Kush for my SoG setup. I found a guy locally who has clones pretty consistently, so there I go. Just gotta wait for my other girls to be done first!

Today was also the day to add week four nutes (Fox Farms). I took a pic of my PPM meter for the hell of it. Started at 1000ppm after flushing 5.5ph pure water through the tops of the blocks to top off the res. PPM is now up to 1500ppm and one gallon was top feed over the nine blocks.

Purple Kush is PERFECT for a SOG! Short and bushy.
