Day 1

Hello RIU, this will be my 3rd grow, My first one with an active grow journal.

I started this grow off by germinating 15 Nirvana Northern Lights Feminized seeds and after 36 hours, I had 11 sprouts which I planted into Rooter cubes. I got a bit impatient with the other 4 and planted them prematurely and killed them. I didn't make any notes when I first Germed them so for purposes of keeping track of them, I'm calling today Day 1.

I'm currently vegging them under a 400w mh using Fox Farms Ocean Forest Soil without any amendments.

ATTN: Fox Farms Ocean Forest is too rich and hot for seedlings and as a result, you will see some burning on some of the leaves. When I transplant, I'll be using a mixture of Fox Farms Ocean Forest with Fox Farms Light Warrior and about 15% perlite for aeration.

This is going to be an organic grow using the General Organics line of nutrients.

104_0039.jpg104_0033.jpg104_0032.jpg104_0035.jpg104_0041.jpg104_0034.jpg104_0040.jpg104_0036.jpg104_0037.jpg104_0038.jpg104_0042.jpg

All but 1 plant are working on their 4th set of leaves and I have 2 different pheno's that I can tell so far.

9 of 11 plants are showing very tight internodal spaces with somewhat broad indica leaves. The other 2 plants are growing quite lanky but since I'll be LST'ing them all I don't think that it's going to be making a huge difference.

The ladies are currently vegging under 18/6 in a bathroom and will be moved into my actual grow room within the week.

All questions and comments are welcome and if you like what you see, a little rep would be very much appreciated.

As always, happy growing to you all and more updates to come.

nice how long you plan on vegging?
To be honest, as long as needed. I'm wanting to lst them until i have between 12-15 top shoots but they're still in the seedling growth stage, so it depends upon when their growth explodes. I started the journal today bc i figured that from here on out, their growth should match that of a newly rooted clone and every lady is going to be cloned perpetually until I get a smoke report from each batch as well as each plant's yields so that I can grab another strain to do the same with.

I have no plans on keeping mothers, only to perpetuate a plant through clones and get a group of strains that can fulfill the medicinal needs of myself and my patients. My next strains will probably be TGA strains as I appreciate the number of journal'd grows that actually describe the phenos you can expect to find.

As for your original question though as far as how long I'll be vegging, I'm guessing that they will be ready in 30 days but currently that's speculation.

Thanks for stopping in.

Day 3

The girls seem to be growing quite rapidly and I just finished cleaning out my flowering room.

Tomorrow, I'll be transplanting the ladies into their final pots which will be 5 gallon holding a mixture of 2 parts FF Ocean Forest to 1 part FF Light Warrior and a little bit of perlite in the mix for aeration.

Here are some pics of the ladies I took just a few hours ago.
104_0065.jpg104_0066.jpg104_0067.jpg104_0068.jpg104_0069.jpg104_0070.jpg104_0071.jpg104_0072.jpg104_0073.jpg104_0074.jpg104_0075.jpg104_0076.jpg104_0077.jpg104_0078.jpg

So far I'm noticing surprisingly high growth rate considering the initial burns to the seedlings from the soil being too rich.

As far as the room that that they will be going into, it's a sealed 8'x11' room with a dual hose portable ac unit and co2 supplementation.

104_0084.jpg

Pictured above is where I installed a sub-panel to supply the rooms power and also to allow me to run my ballasts off of 240 volt power. I have the room fully lined with polyfilm and i also have 1/2" insulation foam on the floor to ensure that my plants don't get any shock from cold floor temperatures. I've attached a few other pictures but unfortunately my uploader isn't rotating them like I have them on my comp so I do apologize.

The first reflector that I'll be putting up tomorrow will be a 400w MH and as I only have the one MH ballast, I'll be putting up a 600w HPS beside it within a week or so as i can get some cash to get another reflector.

As soon as the girls are ready to flower, I'll be pulling the MH out of there and putting up all 4 of my 600w hps lamps for plenty of lumen output.

Please feel free to post any questions or comments or just pull up a seat as this should be a great ride. :bigjoint:

Isn't it going to be hard to grow on the side like that? :wall:

haha, just kidding. Room looks great, a perfectionist after my own heart...

Very clean and well laid out. Subbed + rep!

Day 6

I went ahead and transplanted the ladies into their final pots yesterday and they seem to be responding quite well. They are now in 5 gallon nursery containers with my own mix of soil which i made by taking:

1 1.5 cf Fox Farms Ocean Forest
1/2 1 cf Fox Farms Light Warrior
5 quarts Perlite for drainage and aeration

After mixing all of the soil together, I added about 4 gallons of water that I had added Vermi T Solution which is a compost tea that a local hydro store brews fresh in order to give the fresh soil some microbials and bacteria to work with :)

After mixing the soil by hand and ensuring that i would have no dry pockets, I filled up my containers and transplanted the girls. I also moved the girls into my actual grow room and put the lights on 24/7.

Here are the girls since the transplant:

My favorite girl in there is #6 which is picture 8. She has the best looking leaves and is already shooting out 7 fingers.

The last picture there is simply showing where the branching is just starting.

There's really not much else going on with them yet. I'm going to be going in tonight and trimming up the very lowest vegetation as I don't want the plants to waste energy on it. I think I'll be topping them around Day 14 so stay tuned.

Day 16

Brief update. I can't believe it's only been 10 days since my last post. The girls are looking absolutely amazing already showing preflowers and most of the ladies are shooting out 9 finger leaves.

On day 12, I did my first bit of low stress training to all of the girls by tying them all over and directing the lateral branching vertically in order to increase their auxin levels and it has certainly worked as all of the girls are showing between 4 and 7 top shoots already without the use of topping or fiming.

This is by far the most exciting and pleasurable grow I've done yet and I have to give it to these girls. Whenever I'm around them, I just feel at one with them. They just have an aura of peace and tranquility and I find myself making 5 and 6 trips into the room each day just to stare at them, sometimes for a half an hour or longer. These plants have almost a sexual charisma in how well they are responding to everything and now that they're throwing up their preflowers for the world to see, it's hard to not get excited when with them. The flowering phase is going to be ridiculous.

I'm going to be rather busy over the next few days but I will have a full picture update in 3 days. I'm so excited about their growth that I'm thinking of adding 2 more reflectors, and then transplanting them into 10 gallon containers to make some monster ladies. My only concern is whether or not the ladies would take a transplant well after the training they've received.

Happy growing to all and stay tuned for the update

Day 20

High temps so far: 74*
Low temps so far: 65*
Highest humidity: 63%
Lowest humidity: 27%

These ladies are still continuing to grow phenomenally well. If these girls weren't tied down, they'd likely be at about 24" now and I'll be flipping the lights over just as soon as the clones I picked up have a little bit of vegetative growth as they were given to me in poor condition and it would be worthless for me to throw them into flower. I may actually have to turn a bathroom back into a veg area before these ladies get to be too big. The main stems on these girls are getting to be ridiculously thick and I'm amazed at how well these girls are growing. They seem to be so much healthier and robust then either of my hydro grows before this, and I'm so happy I made the choice to switch over to soil and just let mother nature do her thing.

105_0022.jpg105_0023.jpg105_0024.jpg105_0025.jpg105_0026.jpg105_0027.jpg105_0033.jpg

As you can see, they are developing plenty of top shoots and I haven't even finished tying them all down yet. I do apologize for the photo quality but my back has begun to bother me too much to move the ladies around for good pictures. During flower I will try to take all of my pictures before the lights kick on each night so they aren't all yellow.

I'm going to be hanging up my other reflectors tonight or tomorrow to get ready for flowering.

Also, the girls are beginning to become odorous upon touch and I couldn't be more thrilled.

Up to this point the girls have recieved a single half dose feeding of General Organics Grow, Root Drench, Cold Processed Squid, Kelp and Cal Mag which showed very slight damage at the very tips of the newest growth and I've returned the girls back to straight RO water.

The clones are there, but this isn't going to be a journal on them and before anyone pipes in about it, I know I need to sweep my floor again, I just need to pick up a small hand broom to get in between them.

Day 29

I went ahead and did my final tie downs on the girls and have installed my other 2 reflectors. I have pictures of them yesterday under the 2 lights and also of today with all 4 lights a go.

So far even with all four lights on, my temperatures have yet to exceed 75*. Beginning tomorrow, the lights will be switched from 24/7 to 12/12. I had what looked like pest damage show up on 2 leaves on day 27 and I immediately sprayed with an organic pesticide containing pyrethrum and neem. I will be introducing lady bugs in one week and will be growing a companion dalmatian Chrysanthemum as soon as I can acquire the seeds.

I fed the girls a mixture of RO water, compost tea, and a light dosage of General Organics line. I also gave a light foliar feeding of the same mixture.

As for the clones I had previously, I've given up on them. Two weeks and absolutely no growth, I think I'll be sticking to seeds from here on out.

Anyways, here are the pictures. Enjoy :bigjoint:
