3rd and probably final attempt at a grow...will it work? advice plzz

okay i've posted up two attempts at growing previously in the past year in two different places i had been rented apartments. both times, however, i had less than a 5 or 6 foot ceiling, and very little width, usually 3 or 4 feet at best. worst part was both times were in an attic, so ventilation would have been very difficult or at least absolutely mandatory.

FINALLY i have found a place to rent which accommodates my needs! i will be attempting this in a shed, here are the dimensions:
9 foot at the corner of the roof ^ one beam runs widthwise thats at 7'4"
just under 11 feet in length
width is about 7.5 feet
i plan on using the middle 80% of the room (leave about 20% of the room open at the corners to walk around and such)

currently, i have one 1000watt metal halide lamp with a ballast (and the electical outlet is coincedentally up near the rooftop) :-o i'm trying to figure out my best financial decision for how to go about this... i was thinking of getting a light rail so i could have it move along the roof lengthwise and probably light the whole room. or i could go and get another light...my main question is do you think this single 1000 watt light would be good enough for what i want to do, and do i need to get a light rail? or would you guys suggest another light/ballast for this room? and should i go with HPS instead or will MH get me some decent results? again, this would be my first SUCCESSFUL attempt at a grow op.

as far as ventilation, the room has a small window, but its boarded up. i could cut a hole in the wood and move air through that, wouldn't be that hard, but also do you guys think it's gonna be absolutely necessary for full ventilation? the shed is actually in the shade most of the time, so im guessing temperatures shouldn't get too high in there even with the light on (but humidity could be an issue...its about 10-12 feet away from a pond/lake)

on a final note, i have some seeds already. what im working with is:
5x SnowRyder
5x Fem EasyRyder
7-8x Diesel Ryder

you guys think these will work out for what im working with right now?? oh yeah, i plan to use nutrient rich soil, and a regular setup, no hydroponics. sorry for all the questions but for the love of god i wanna make this one work... pictures of the setup are below. the third pic is sideways, sorry about that... *tilts head to right* basically in taht one you can see a small shelf, with a bunch of sh!t that will be cleared off. but thats a top to bottom view. second one in shows in the middle the dark piece of wood where the window was boarded up. and in the first pic, thats the roof. you can see the outlet in the far corner, should make mounting the ballast easy. the support beam that runs across is unfortunately running width wise not length wise, or i could put the light rail on that. just so you guys have something to work with...ill see if i can get some better pics, but just give me any advice you guys can...in the next couple days im going to germ these and throw them under a fluoro, but i want to make sure i can make this work.

man you should have just grown a couple smaller plants just to get used to how they grow. you dont need a 1000 wat light to grow a couple of plants you could have grown in that attic just fine. you dont have to go all out with your first grow your talking about light movers and everything. just plant the plants and grow them its not that hard. good luck with your grow just get it started before you stop becasue you think it wont happen. did you even try in the other places ? or just decide it wouldnt work

i started my very first grow in an attic with no ventilation, cooked the shit out of the plants cuz it was like 5x6x5 and used the 1000watt MH. its what i have so i used it. wasted about 150 bucks in seeds, so you see why i wouldn't just want to start this without thinking it through...but anyway any ACTUAL advice? please n thanks people just want to know what you guys think about this whole idea...and also since these are low plants what do you guys think as far as how high to mount the light?

Paint all your walls Flat white to start off with - cheap and easy.

Don't get light rails and movers and junk - that's for the mass production pros. Just gets some heavy duty hooks from the hardware store and some rope/chain.... you should be able to move your lights are plenty with the hooks spaced out above around your grow - that's what I do.

As for your last grows - they were doomed from the start. Attics are bad. It can be 65 in your house, 80 outside, and it will be 98(or hotter!) in the attic - I'm an electrician, it blows. This shed should be fine. All you need are FANS! As for that window... lol leave it boarded up! You don't want some window looking into your grow, whether it's legal or not, some one will want to take it off your hands.

Do you have a sealed reflector for your MH? if you want to keep temps down, take the money that you were going to spend on movers and rails and go buy/make a sealed reflector or Cooltube for your 1000w MH. (BTW, that MH should be fine for Vegging, when you start flowering you should switch to HPS.) Then hook up some flexible venting to both sides of the Cooltube, ones side pushing air in, and the other side pulling the air out. You can either pull fresh air into the cooltube from outside, or in the room, but the hot air should definitely be vented outside through a hole in the shed. You can put a dryer vent cover over it on the outside so it doesn't look odd.

That's really about it for now. Eventually you will need to look in smell control. Look around on RIU and search for DIY COOLTUBE, or DIY CARBON FILTER Hell just search for DIY lol

Oh. Id also get some cheap caulk/silicone and try to seal every crack from the inside the shed that bugs can crawl through and smell can escape.

I agree with thatdjsnow in the fact that you should look for something along the lines of a cooltube and Inline fans to help keep temps down while getting your lamp as close to the plants as you can.

Another piece of advice is get something like HOT SHOTS NO PEST STRIPS this will cover a 1200cu ft room against crawling and flying pests.

Other than that a bit of research and care and you should be fine.
