We need to stop blaming presidents, who are puppets to those who elect them behind the scenes= deep state. But that is exactly what the deep state wants- us fighting among ourselves never getting it that any head of state has very little control and our woes are caused by the deep state

No, as it's been explained a hundred times already, it isn't the Deep State or some other fevered paranoid it just plain distracted imagining; it's the DONOR CLASS, COMMA, STUPID.

The ultra rich who need multi-million dollar tax deductible donations spend it on the campaigns of candidates of their choice, thus buying influence on an industrial scale.

It's not magic, it's not the deep state, it's not Martians- it's Citizens United.
 
OK, so what about your reply is contrary to mine? If as you say it's entities/large corporations who use taxable donations to buy politicians, they don't do so without expectations which means they re the negative influence that no head of state can overrule without consequnces

"Deep State" as imagined by secret conspiracy theorists is some second government hidden underneath the one we see on the news every day. A cabal or oligarchy who secretly plot and decide what strings to pull and direct government to do their bidding. By the vision you describe, it's a secret and therefore unknowable group who direct the US government and disenfranchise the electorate. The theory requires belief without proof. Like Illuminati and whatever it is that Scientology followers believe. I don't know what could be done against a Dark State other than just hope they don't decide to cull the herd of little people. So as unproven theories go, it's not very useful. It is a cynical and dis-empowering theory. And unproven, so requires faith to believe it.

Is there an oligarchy with undue influence in today's government? I don't think there is any disagreement about that. I think what tty is saying there is no hidden deep state. The oligarchy 1% is in plain view for all to see and they aren't all that well organized either. They also don't yet have complete control but the day is near when they might. Repeal of Citizen's United would deal a blow to them. Taxing the shit out of them and freeing them from their excessive wealth would be another. Both are necessary.
