Hello RIU! I am on my first grow and I have a very important question for you. I started my seedlings and they came up just fine. They are about 3 weeks. My problem is the plants are turning yellow. I water them every two days. I give them about 1/4 of a little Dixie cup. Am I watering them too much or is there something else going on. Your reply would be very, very much appreciated. :eyesmoke:

What type of soil and what is the pH of your water. What if any nutes are you using and what type of lighting is involved.

I'm not using "soil" I'm using vermiculite. My pH is at 6.5 or so. I'm at the moment using a cfl light for the beginning but I'm gonna switch two a 150watt hps light and four grow fluorescents.

Ok so I take it you have a drip system because vermiculite alone is not a good medium without some sort of constant feeding system. It doesnt have the properties needed to break down and store nutes. :wall:

If you aren't giving them nutes yet then that is the problem. Being it's soiless you should use a chemical fert like dynagro; as DocGreen said, there wont be a good environment for organics to be broken down.

Ok that means your whole setup is wrong, point blank, 3 weeks old and only like 3 inches. My plants grow that in days and I use African Violet soil leeched of all its time release shit. So easy fix bro get you some soil, mix some vermicullite or peat moss and some perlite with it and transplant that poor deprived plant and wait about a week for serious amounts of nutes so it can regain some vitality from shock of being pretty much starved. Then gradually start a good regimen on nutes and micros. Remember after all you hear, you are feeding the soil not the plant. take care of the soil it will take care of your plant because its a living thing as well as the plant that thrives in it. Sorry for the rant just had to get it out LOL Oh and yeah keep your pH in check too. 6.5 is borderline in my book stay 6.8 or as close to 7 as possible.
