It's been a few years since my last journal, and since then I've transitioned from hydro
to organic soil. The learning curve was steep, and after experimenting with different
soils and nutrients I've found the most success in using supersoil, or highly amended
soil for anyone not familiar with it. I've been using Subcool's recipe for the past six
months but with different base soils. Instead of Roots Organics I started with Amazon
Bloom from Earth Juice and am trying the recipe out with Pro-mix. I recently moved
and the best organic soil that isn't hundreds of miles away is Blue Ribbon blend from
Gardner and Bloom, so I'm baking some of it right now and will try it out as a discount
alternative to Roots Organics on my next girls going into flower...

The price of the Blue Ribbon blend is $10 for a 1.5 CF bag at my local farmers market,
which is far less than RO brand anywhere you bye it and makes me question whether or
not it will provide the nutrients needed for the entire flowering cycle. Despite the cheaper
price of the G&B, it has many of the same nutrients and additives found in expensive
soil mixs:

A composted blend of Canadian sphagnum peat moss, screened fir bark fines, forest humus,
pumice, chicken manure, worm castings, bat guano, kelp meal & alfalfa meal.

Based on my results with the Amazon Bloom, which has less additives than the Blue Ribbon
blend but is more expensive, I'm hoping using this base soil will also produce high quality
organics buds and sustain the plants throughout the flowering cycle. If it works, I'll save
alot of money on my supersoil mix and won't have to drive miles to get expensive mixes.

The pics show my Chernobyl and Space Dawg girls in full swing... In one week I am going to
transplant some of each strain into the Blue Ribbon SS and start comparing the results with those
of other base soils.
