This is the start of many entries on how I like to grow. Please comment for any constructive criticism, please don't post if it has nothing to do with my journal, if you have a question about your grow PM me please. The reason I start journals on riu is for when I don't have an answer to a problem, the great community with some experienced growers like to help out, and have saved my grow in the past. . This is a fully legal medical grow in compliance with Amendment 20 in the great state of Colorado.
Anyway here it is.....

The Start:
2 Strawberry Cough from clone
2 Durban Poison from clone
2 Grape Ape from clone

Clone Source:
Local Dispensary

Elevation:
9,500 Ft

Medium:
Roots Organic Soil

Nutrients:
Fox Farm Trio Pack, molasses last 2 weeks before flush, I keep it simple

Lighting:
2 Hydrofarm T5 4ft 4 tube (1 for clones, 1 for mothers)
600 or 1000 HPS w/digital ballast and air cooled hood....? Still need to purchase

Ventilation:
1 4" Inline Fan, 265cfm (most likely a intake)
1 6" can fan to exhaust, still need to purchase

Goodies:
Co2 Tank
Co2 Regulator, still need to purchase

Dimensions for grow area
Clone shelf: 52"Wide, 24"Deep, 36"Tall; (4.3ft x 2ft)
Mother/Veg: 52"Wide, 42"Deep, 58"Tall; (4.3 ft x 3.5ft)
Flower: 75"Wide, 58"Deep, 84"Tall; (6.25ft x 4.8ft)

::Still needing to purchase a HPS light, I have the funds just torn on purchasing a 1000 or a 600, will buy one this weekend at a local shop 20% weekend sale, just waiting for the discount::

09/09/10
All but two (both Strawberry Coughs) clone's roots are plentiful, I may transplant 4 of them today and the other two will be 24 hours or however longer they need for a better root mass before transplanting into 1 gallon pots. Heres the photos of my grow area. I have yet to purchase poly/mylar, it will look much more legit soon. If you see water on the floor its because I just scrubbed with bleach, and of course before I put my clones in I bug bombed the fuck out the room, usually pests aren't much a problem where I live in the winter.

There will be a light below the clones for mothers
3 mothers here

If anyone could tell me how to wire this fucking fan

Transplanted........

Put up poly to enclose room, put a zipper on it like a tent, Velcro'd top left so a larger opening was created. Now need an intake stat..

Clones don't seem to look 'happy', leafs are a little droopy 12 hours after transplant, is this normal? I've always started from seed... Should I get some super-thrive?
sad face

Wassup dude. Just moved out of SC myself. Did you hit up the Hydro Shack and get some ST from Tom then?

As far as the drooping goes - the ST might work... but the plants might just be unhappy cause they just got transplanted. Hopefully in a day or so they go back to looking happy.

Fan question - I use a bigass fan and smaller fans depending on what they're for. I keep air moving with some smaller 50-110cfm fans and then I've got a 460 running air through my reflector and a 225 running air through my carbon scrubber.

Keep on keepin on!

What kind of smaller 50-110cfm fans we talking? Like duct fans? I was thinking about buying a couple 8" duct fans to blow fresh air in. I got a 6" inline yesterday. (435cfm) Gonna use it to cool my 600 watt hps thats in the mail right now... I also got a lot of work done in my flower room. I framed and panda filmed it. Lookin good.. Heres some pictures..
Now some panda film....
zipper opening
Very nice big space for my sativas...
6" inline fan intake
just outside the flower room
Superthrive is magical
Standing proud
I love building shit

Yea I have the 110cfm pointing straight up into the light which helps disperse the heat a little and keeps all the plants fluttering. My 50cfm is in the same position blowing air into my T5's for veg.

Crazy thing is, I never had to duct in my 600 when I lived up there. I grew in a large downstairs room and even with the light on it never went above 78. I had to run a little heater in there during lights off time to keep it above 70.

Gotta love Summit. I wish the weather down here was as nice. It's finally just starting to cool down a little. Plus I never had any bugs. I don't even remember seeing any in my house the entire time I lived up there.

The dispensaries down here kinda suck too. The dudes @ Organix always hooked it up, as did Dawn @ Bioenergetic Healing. You get your clones from Jerry @ MMJ of the Rockies or some place in Breck? I lived in Silverthorne so I don't know the Breck ones as well.

Good to see the clones are looking happy again!

Yeah I love MM of the Rockies, yes got my clones from Jerry, good dude, knows his shit. And a super hot chick works there, also makes the experience just that much better... :) I used to go to High Country Healing, but a lot of tool ass clowns work there, fuck that place. I'd say overall up in Summit we def got better dispenserys then Denver and Boulder, but theres not as many thats for sure. And yeah already my temps at night drop as low as 65. I'm going to have to get a control wizard or some kind of climate controller for my fans before it gets even cooler.. Uhhh money money money.. never ends with growing.. Anyway heres some quick pics of my ladies.. they took a liking to they're new homes..

ColoradoLove did you find any disadvantages from growing this high in elevation other than oxygen not being as abundant..?

Nah I didn't have any issues that I could tell. Honestly I think there's more benefits. I didn't have to air cool my hood, no bugs...

Yea HCH is pretty overpriced. When they first opened up they generally maintained like 40+ strains! That was cool, but it got too damn spendy. I find that a lotta the workers in the shops are toolish though, same with headshops. Didn't go to MM of the Rockies enough that I saw the hot chick unfortunately. But they've definitely got a fairly serious clone setup there.

The Hydro Shack is a SICK store too. It took a couple tries down here to locate a decent one. Don't take that shit for granted! And if you move, stock up before you roll out. It's tough to find a comparable shop elsewhere, or for me it was. I ended up finding a really nice one, but I went to two suckass ones that were shady as hell and sized like a closet!

I use a 1000w on a light rail for the same space.
If you dont want to use a rail i would say 2 600w.

After I framed it, turns out to be 5 feet by 6 feet wide, 8 feet tall. I can get a 1000, but do you really think I'd benefit more from this?? My worry is heat come next summer, even with an air cooled hood, those things are HOT..?? 600 watt is so efficient.. Thanks for the input dirtfree!

Maybe 2 digital 600 would be best.
I have a digital greenhouse from HTG that is super cool(temp). The ballast is cool to the touch
I like it better than the 1000w. My 1000w ballast will burn my hand if left on it for more than a couple seconds.

Or you could start out with one in the space and add another one if needed.

If you are concerened about heat dont cheep out on your refector. Get a cooltube or some kind of cooled hood.

Sticking with 1 600 with xxxl magnum hood. I'll get another when I can afford it...
