300w CFL question!

Hey guys and girls.
Doing my 1st proper grow got a 1.2x0.9x1.8 tent.
300w dual spectrum light with canopy.
Carbon filter and extraction.
Clip on fan for a breeze.
2x sweet train wreck
2x fast and vast

Now my seeds have germinated (2 of each strain) when they come through the soil how close can this big ass CFL be?
I know they need as much light as possible but the ballast on these bulbs don't have kick out some heat!
And also should the light be on before they break through as in now?

Thanks.

image.jpg image.jpg Here's a pic of one my F&V autos been under (still under) a 300w dual spectrum CFL.
I keep a fan blowing on the light and have it around 3-4inches above the plant

I had my lights on 24hrs a day around 6inches away from pots and when the plant breaks surface I removed the cling film (seran wrap) from the pots and let the plant do its thing, adjust the light accordingly you don't want to damage the plant while its young keep a fan going. Around 1week old I changed the lighting to 20/4 then eventually 19/5 to suite me more (mine are autos)

I'm going to go with the 18/6 cycle for now.
Where should my probe be situated and I also have an infrared temp gun to measure soil temps and even leaf temps when I get that far.
What should soil temps be if anyone knows?

I have 2 hygrometers one hangs just below the top of tent with probe near top of reflectors and the other sits on the ground near pots with probe in shade out of ambient heat. I never take soil temps don't complicate things keep it simple and easy less is more

So this is today's update they have all well sprouted and have purchased some organic grow for the plants as pictured.
It says use 4ml for every litre
I'm doing 1ml per litre for now and will slowly introduce more am I right in going about it this way?
Even at this stage I'm one happy bunny I've created life now I've just got to keep it alive Haha.

Hiya T+C, What Soil/Compost Mix are they in? Just asking.. because most feed for anything from 3-4 weeks depending on "Brand" unless say its like BioBizz Light Mix(nothing.or next to nowt added) Would've thought they'd be fine with just Water, or maybe Water and Root Stim for 1st week.. going well though..

Personally I would feed only water for 2weeks then introduce a weak solution and watch to see if there is any Nute burn if there is just use plain water for another couple of feeds, one of my plants was getting Nute burn off just plain water she only got Nutes at week4, you plants will feed off the soil for around 2weeks

Hi I'm using grosure organic vegetable compost with a good amount of perlite in there to keep the mix light and yeah after much deliberation on my mind I am going to just water until the 2 week mark then slowly add nutes.

So I'm at day 4 and all is looking well except for one of the fast and vast which appears to have slightly yellow ends to the one of the leaves (not the seedling ones) could this be soil related or just the fact it's still developing And also is this CFL too close? The bog roll is for you to be able to judge distance.
One more question how much to water and how often? Currently I'm doing it every 12 hours which is because of work if I'm being honest.
I'm using a water sprayer to wet the surrounding area and mainly at the base of the plant until I see the water sit for a second before soaking in can anyone devise me on watering at this stage please and when to increase?
Thanks.

3. Also train wreck

That's around the distance I had my lights at that stage. I pre soaked my soul before I put the soil in and didn't need to water until day 12 (till it was almost dry at the bottom of the pot where the holes are) I also go off the weight of the pots there's a big big difference when they're dry. I watered with 2L of water and made sure I had good runoff. The yellowing looks like it's just when she shed the seed shell. Don't worry bout it keep a fan on that bulb it looks like the same as mine.
Also rotate the pots every now and then it's good practice for when they get bigger to get the most out of the light. :peace:
Hope this helps

That helps ALOT and I've already rotated the pots today before I read this.
The light is a 300w dual spectrum.
Ordered a light reflector which was only £13.14 and it came with a bulb!!!!!!!!!
There mistake my gain aha.
I'm temping the soil/plant with a gun and there between 28-30 Celsius.
I think I'm gonna soak the soil tomorrow morning.
Should I be watering evenly until I get Run Off?
Thanks again.

That's a good buy lucky too haha I'm not sure about run off at this stage of your plant I never watered till day 12 the plant was a lot more defined and a lot bigger then. I would continue as you are as it is clearly working then aim for some runoff in a week or so. I hope you get some more advice from different growers on this matter. Your doing good. Don't stress too much about heat I live in UK & went a week at 30C and started to show sign of heat stress and then it went a week at 19C I was stressing out trying to lower it then raise it but it all turned out ok.
Keep updating with pics I think your gonna do well.

So this mornings update.
Each 12L pot took roughly 1.5L of water before I had slight run off.
Currently sat in waiting for a larger inline fan to be delivered so I actually will have proper negative pressure :)

Now got a 100m3/hour inlet and a 160m3h extraction with carbon filter and I'm achieving perfect negative pressure :)
One happy bunny but on a bad note one of the 3 plants doesn't look anywhere near as healthy as the others still small in comparison will update a picture after work tomorrow.

These are both the same plant except one isn't doing as well there both fast and vast this is 7 days in from germination should I kill it now and plant another before there's a massive size difference between them or give it chance?image.jpgimage.jpg
