3000k flourecents?

Buddy gave me some 48" florescent lights 3000k. I was wondering if i could use these vertically during flowering. i know they aren't as good as say 2700k but they are free:clap:.

Just to reconfirm your question. Yes, the bloom bulbs 3k florescent will and do work, but just realize the light disperses at a much shorter distance. Which does make them ideal for vertical flowering. Most likely you won't get a great yield and only the outside will flower nice, but then again I have never done vertical flowering, so I would be interested to hear how it turns out. I usually use the bloom bulbs to jump start my clones when I am waiting on my flower tent to finish, but I try not to go more than 1 - 2 weeks depending on the strain before putting them under the HPS. Ultimately you are going to want a HPS even if it is a 400watter(you can get everything light/cool tube/ballast for about $200), which you can even get away without using a fan and get great yields and qaulity. I have tried everything due to the heat issues, but you just can't beat a HPS. I haven't tried the high end LED lights yet for flowering, but if they really do work I would much rather spend money on the lights then those hot HPS lights.

Anyway long answer to a short question. It will work and as a general rule I would say 2 - 4 48" florescent lights during flowering. Since this is in the newbie section just a general rule that I have learned over the years is more light = greater yield and quality = strain + balance of nutes(fox farm for soil, Canna for hydro). ;) Oh and be careful on the nutes you don't want nute burn, but if the leaf tips begin to curl down and kind of look burnt just flush with plain water the next day and be patient you want some run off. Some people do some amazing stuff and get great yields off of so little, so make me a believer and good luck!
