3 weeks overdue on harvest and vacation coming up!! When is she ready?

So i have had 2 previous growth with various success but the feeling i had at the end was that i didn't wait long enough for the trichomes, which is a pretty shitty feeling considering how long it takes!

Anyways my family vacation is coming up soon and my girl is not ready yet. Maybe i have fudged it up a bit with the nutrients, maybe you guys know?

Been using the Advanced nutrients PH perfect line (such a relief not checking PH and only filling water in a hydro system... well worth the extra buck) and almost following the schedule i waited til week 10 to use late blooming nutrients as people said that the seed provider follows a perfect condition grow i waited some weeks extra. Seed provider said it was 9 weeks from germination to harvest

Well it did look ready to be harvested about 2 weeks ago, 90% of the pistils had browned in and 50% of the trichomes had changed color and i have been playing the waiting game now for the trichomes. Now 2 days ago the entire plant starts shooting out new pistils everywere? the budds have swelled quite a bit these last 2 weeks and the fan leaves are now slowly dying off.. been checking the trichomes lately and on the budds there is mostly clear trichomes now like those spots were there is x100 crammed into one spot. i'd say maybe 30-40% milky 60% clear and maybe few amber

if you survived this read i am thankful and maybe you got some advice for me? should i cut the late blooming nutrients now etc?

Anyways i dont want to chop this girl early and my vacation is coming up so how long does she have left in your guys opinion?

She's foxtailing which can make it hard to tell from a pic ... normally when I see white pistils like that Id say at least two more weeks but the foxtailing throws out new white pistils, sometimes even when the plant is done (im kind of just learning this after dozens of grows) ... keep an eye on those trichs, when they are all cloudy your good to go... my opinion anyways, lotta people on here gonna see white pistils and say you need to wait till they're all orange, but ive had a few plants lately that foxtailed because of the heat that just kept throwing new pistils endlessly

Also ignore breeders suggested timeline in the future... they're rarely accurate...

Solid advice right there. Explained well.

If you see a flower trying to push tons of hairs from one seed pod things what ever they are called, you will only get a huge foxtail out from it that will never get good trichomes before rest is ruined already and it would jsut keep growing this thin foxtail that doesent have much weight anyways. So pinch those away or qeeze them between your nails so they die or something. That will redirect use of energy more evenly and then try to harvest so that old ones are as ready as possible and not too much new growth is there due to pinching of those beginning foxtails. However from my little experience it will then try to make new pistils more evenly all over and you dont want that either. But it can buy you some time to find a better window for harvest by delaying new growth a bit so rest can get ready.

Im not too experienced grower, but i have battled with these foxtails a few times, read about them and tried this method myself.

Thanks for the advices. I am guessing this is a typical foxtail because ive been battling with heat for 2-3 weeks now beeing around 26-29c with dehumidifier going in the tent.

Got a tip on another website to plan my harvest soon as the trichs will continueue to mature during the drying process?

But it was just so wierd going from looking almost done til overnight shooting out prob 100 pistils overnight all over, even the air budds at the bottom keeps spitting out pistils!

So your saying the 26-29c is your current temp? Or the too hot temp you were fighting with?

For what its worth. I've chopped plants with barely any amber and they fully matured during dry/cure. Ive also done what you did and ended up with lethargic bud. 2 hits and you needed a nap

Yes sir, thats the temperaturs ive been dealing with lately. my charcoal filter needed a change and was emitting odor from my tent so had to close my windows and the temps got a bit higher. I got a new filther now and its odorless again!

My last growth ended with no so potent budd i think, 10min small headbuzz and 40min chill effect on body ... for nearly half a gram in a bong.

Now i got a 22% THC lady that i hoped would get me proper high! Does it mature a lot during the drying/curing?

its maybe about 50% milky on the old budds but all the new trics especially those that are like stacked x100 togheter are mainly clear.

idk i just paranoid to sit with the "i fucked up AGAIN" feeling xD

26-29c isnt “too hot”, pretty sure that’s an ideal temp to be at

ah thought in most hydro grows you'd want to keep it at 18-20c for the nutrient solution and less chance of root rot. but its been doing good in 26-29c

When i had to battle with these im pretty sure it was because of high heat and too low humidity. When i got a humifier then while battling with these, the plant started to push out new pistil more evenly instead of just foxtailing and very much wanted to enter a new round of pistil, like it was trying to grow them out, but could not due to too low humidity. It did also continue the foxtailing some, but it started swelling up more evenly also.

If you are running too hot temps, you also need to run higher humidity or the plants wont be able to breathe properly. Google VPD and try to adjust your humidity accordingly the next time. That usually suggested 45 humidity for flowering with slightly lower for last two weeks is only for 25C air temp. Higher air temp and you need higher relative humidity for optimal results also. You wont get mould etc risks with a bit higher than 45 relative humidity if you also have higher temperature. If temps fall at night time, then humidity should also or you do risk mould etc. relative humidity being relative to temperature

Thanks for this repl CannaOnerStar!

Doing around 22-26c but i cant even get it down to 45% were i live, i think the normal humidity in my house is around 55 with dehumidifier inside the tent it gets to around 49-51% i think thats fine, havent had mold issues on my two other growths doing it this way!

Ah okay, i was dealing with like 25-30% humidity and 28-31 C :D Getting a humifier(and it now being more humid in summer and adjusting air flows so that i can have a bit lower temp than that even tho it is summer) basically solved the foxtailing issue for me. But as i mentioned much of the damage had already been done for the plants, looked a lot like yours, except you seem to(maybe?) have been feeding a bit too much N also it seems. Buds are not fattening properly and there are dark green a bit round leafs, thats a sign of too much nitrogen during flowering.

You’ll hear this 1000 times. Check trich color. If they are all still clear then they’re not ready. If they’re 75% cloudy and 25% clear, let go another week. If they’re already showing ambers, then I would cut it down. You want to aim for all cloudy if possible with little amber. Don’t go based on hairs alone.

Yeah i have been checking the trick colors about 40-60% milky. got some ambers showing on a few of the budds, problem is that in about a week im going away on vacation and im already 3 weeks overdue on seed providers notice. i was just hoping if anyone could tell me aprox how long left and maybe i can work around that!

But from what i have gathered so far its about 2 weeks left i guess, maybe a bit less. I think i might have to chop it in maybe a few days, we'll see how it turns out!

If you chop, just try to do it like... last day before you leave. How long will you be gone?? You’ll need to make sure it doesn’t over dry. Might be risky
