Sorry to disagree but I use soil and burned my plants. PH was out of whack too. GWE says soil PH should be between 6.0 - 7.0. Water PH can affect the soil PH.
If you have "Super soil" then PH shouldn't be affected because of the microorganisms that will take care of that for you. To feed the microorganisms use molasses at a rate of 2 tsp. / gallon every other watering IIRC.
