whats up everyone growing 6 strawberry cough seedlings for about 3 weeks or so.. hydro setup (homemade bubbleponics).. growing under 1000w dual-arc hybrid bulb thats about 18 inches away i'd say, also using the GH 3 part nute system, used at 1/2 the suggested seedling strength now because i think i burnt them a tad before.
i just noticed last night/today that the biggest of the plants has some weird shit goin on with it.. i wish i could post some pictures but my digicam is m.i.a. and my phone cam will not show what i'm talking about.

so here's the issues...
on the edges of the on set of leaves it is browning along the "bladed" part of the leaf (possible heat/nute burn?) next thing i'm wondering is that the lower set of leaves where the problem actually started feel paper-like and crisp (especially at the ends) and it really doesn't feel healthy like all the other leaves.. it also has some discoloration on the leaf itself in the form of "spots" except they are more dark in green. i cut the tips off a couple of the leaves and it crumbles into dust when you rub it between ur fingers. i wish i could explain in more detail and i had some pics! i will try and get a decent pic from my phone when i get home from work.

i'm leaning towards it just being a heat stress thing combined with too strong of nutes for the little girls... but all this talk and pictures of ph levels and bugs and shit has me worried!! haha. also just to add i don't have a ph meter or anything bc i dont have $200 to drop on that shit.. im hoping the ph is decent i live in florida so who knows? Any help and advice would be clutch. Blaze on. :joint:

i think im going through the same thing, only my lower leaves are affected by whatever stress it is.

but it started when i woke up and the grow room was at 95 degrees. so i can only figure its the heat.

buy a ph tester for pools with the red drops. You really need a ppm meter as well! these two things are vital to a succesful hydroponic grow!

I would like to see a picture but I am leaning towards nutrient burn, I will post one of my really bad leaves on a recovering plant.

In the picture you can see one tip that is brown and one tip that is missing. the missing tip had nutrient burn but burnt up and fell off. The leaf is also discoloured. The entire plant was on the brink of death but has made a big comeback since correcting the nutrient problem.

thanks for the replies, i appreciate the input. same thing happened to me basically, somehow my exhaust fan stopped outta nowhere, so i was running a 1000w in a growcab w/ ZERO exhaust... meaning 95F for about 4 hrs or so i'd say, plus.. used a too high dosage of nutes and i florida tap water.. :/ def assuming is a combo of ph, previous heat & nute stressing. gonna go buy a buncha distilled water and a ph test kit today

1000 watts in a cab??? that's probably your problem. hard to keep the temps. in limits with that much heat. i'm assuming you have a vented hood/cool tube, right? i never go by the manufacturers recommended nute strength. they want you to use it up and buy more, so they inflate the ppm. growing hydro w/o a ppm meter is very doable, but you really need a way to check/adjust your ph. this is key to a successful hydro grow.

haha yeah it seems a bit excessive but the more the merrier.. anyways yeah im using a cooltube w/ a 250 cfm inline fan exhausting into the attic, then i have another 250cfm exhausting out w/ a carbon filter. temps are at 78F. reason i really went w/ the 1000 is bc along w/ the straw cough, ill be doing like 10 lowberrys too so i wanted to have plenty of light. i really dont have the flow to drop on a dig ph meter but i plan to grab some strips or whatever from the grow shop today..
