Yes it is, 1½ - 2 months is normally the time I wait before I start to enjoy it, it does however get better as time goes by, so save some for later...

Have a good weekend...

I smoke mine as soon as it's dry. After 3 months it would be too old for me to want to smoke and would be turned into dry ice hash. I like fresh weed full of terpenes. Terpenes degrade over time which is why I start smoking it right away.

I grow outdoors so I only produce one crop a year. I smoke it fresh, at two months, at six months, at 11 months, ect. I smoke it as soon as it's dry personally, I enjoy it fresh, and I enjoy it after a month or six. I have noticed a few strains that have certain flavors that fade over time while others come to the forefront.

One of the primary reasons that people cure is to reduce harshness, if you are growing and drying properly your weed should never be harsh, curing should not be necessary to make it enjoyable. But, I do think that aging can change the flavor profile, and sometimes it's a matter of personal preference as to which flavors you enjoy from a plant.

For instance, I grew a plant this year(Black Domina/Super Skunk x Pacific Northwest Hashplant) that I loved fresh but it had a cat piss type smell/flavor to it that my wife did not care for, after about five months the cat piss profile faded to more sweet and floral and my wife loved it after that, so for her, it improved over time, I loved it from the start.

Long story short, I think you should try it fresh you may love it, if not wait for a little while and it try again. But, I personally think there is way too much made of the curing process, it's almost like a litmus test for coolness lately, especially on forums. The flavor profile does change over time sometimes for the better sometimes for the worse. Curing/aging is a tool that can be used to change the flavor, but it is not at all necessary it's more a matter of preference.

Yeah i can only grow in the summer to. Curing improves the taste and gives a more enjoyable smoking expereience but as long as u just hang them up to dry, that should work to i guess

There is a video where jungle boys explained that they tested product to see what’s going on and that terpenes start declining after only one month. I’ve been saying this for years, after 2 weeks curing it’s as good as it’s gonna get and then goes downhill. Yeah it might hit smoother cause your terpenes aren’t as strong, but it’s not as good. I’ve been taking down a crop every 45-60 days for years and it’s always better when fresh. It does need a couple weeks in jars or your curing method to get the green chlorophyll smell and taste out of it, but as soon as that’s gone it’s at its best in my opinion.

A nice slow dry and it should be ready to smoke and it should taste as good as it ever will. I've never had weed "get better" over time. Then again I've only had weed last 6 months a few times. Normally its gone long before that, either I smoke it, or my friends beg me for it.

May I ask, how do you manage to dry it so that you can smoke it right away?
Mine always stays wet for a couple weeks at least, even tho I slow dry at 60RH. If I try to light one up, there's no way on earth it stays lit...

For how long? I usually dry for 7-10 days
7-10 days is a good start, 2 weeks is even better, basically as long as it needs to get to the right point. My conditions have never been controlled enough to have one set temp and time. I've always had to watch the buds carefully and adjust my conditions to get the right results. Usually around the 7-10 day mark I take the buds off the stems and toss them in a paper bag for another 3-7 days to equalize the moisture inside and finish the drying. I know they are done when it will smoke nicely and burn properly. Then it gets trimmed up and goes into bags or jars for final storage. They should smell great and be dry enough to seal up at the point they hit jars. I don't want to have to waste time "burping" a bunch of jars every day for weeks. I'll usually check on them after a couple days and as long as they are good, they just get opened when I take weed out :).

Do you close the paper bag or leave it open?
