Grower update:

So far he says the timber grow lights DIY kits are for sure better than running HID and are doing better than the CLW SS 550!!

Couple more weeks until cut and I think he'll be an L E D snob! He already gave away his collection of HID lights!

Good lights timberdan aka RainDanView attachment 3798815
CLW are some of the oldest technology and highest priced LEDs around, they are still using mono diodes from 2008. Those are just basically fancy Chinese blurple LEDs with a huge price tag. They aren't even made in America so don't let the name fool you, they are made in Shenzhen China then are sent to California for redistribution.

Show your references!! I have data saying otherwise.

Diods pressed to PCB and unit assembled in US. ALL leds are made in China but most are pressed and also assembled in china. Leds are newer than 2015....

It's all Chinese products that are reassembled :( you might as well just buy a cheap Chinese light it will have the same results....I thought we already went over this on this section, blurple lights are old technology(yes they grow weed) , super out dated and antiquated , new LEDs use COBs which sadly are also made in china :(.

Yes all leds are manufactured in China. But it's assembled in us to specs CLW wanted using the leds that are newer than the osram Zelion HL which is the 2015 LED dioads. The ones are confirmed to be better than the Zelion HL. And newer. On the ss550

I wouldn't want cobs on this light the white leds are very high performance and are on par with cobs so fuck that

For what I paid these are awesome lights. 400w crushing a 3'x4' area and I'm actually using 4'x5' area per light The budds look great. 5 gallon soil and getting 3oz pet plant. Didn't use co3. Liked planned.

So beat that with 400w x3 in a almost 15x5 area off store bought seeds that don't look like I'd clone more than 2.

That's cool glad you happy with that, I just wouldn't personally recommend any blurple leds they are really not that great.

Do you know the specs on the frames for the lights? I am about to put together two bar style lights running (4) COB's each.

Thanks

good cobs are great

good blurples are great

been using CLW since 2013 and when they switched to osrams it was a huge jump. and they are on their 3rd generation/bin since then. their stuff is no joke

LEDs arent magic. theres nothing cobs can do that cant be done with single diodes

cobs favor economics of manufacturing and we have a lot to learn about spectrum

even the 2013 CLWs had warm white diodes. every gen since then has had an increasing amount of white. i personally think using these lights with white band alone and then augmenting with red and blue bands would yield great results

same with bml/fluence. their spectrum went from predominantly blurple with some white to predominantly 4000k with some 660 nm

i think a lot of it had to do with the availability of the super efficient whites that prob didnt exist when i bought my first UFO knock-off in 2007

I'm not saying they won't work I am saying they are over priced and there are better alternatives, i agree more white light is good but they lack intensity and coverage for the pricetag and are using outdated technology and parts. I honestly doubt they would even beat out a cheap 600w hps setup which is less than half the price one of these is and covers more area.

well if you poke around the solarsystem 550s are close to $600 for 400W of top bin osrams in a remote controllable IP67 enclosure... i dont think $1.50/W for something of that build quality with a 5 year warranty is out of line

Those are 800$ for 400w... where do you get your prices?

Can't remember but my cob placement was every 15". It was the cheapest channel aluminum at HD it's thin and flimsy but I love her.....

Damn mine were $400. Better shop around bro. Also if you don't have facts on this thread then delete it please. CLW used some shit leds back when that was all that was available with the tech then in 2015 they switched to osram Now they have the second to latest gen in the SS 550 which are impressive. Also it's not technically burple when it's also white. It just lacks lots of green which is what we call white. So....not sure where you're getting your info but it's erroneous
grats on the good deal you got but still doesn't change the fact that those are old tech and cost 800$ , did you get yours used or something? That's more than 50% off MSRP. As for facts I listed two reputable vendors of that LED you are using both are within 20$ of each other so yea I am stating facts , sorry they are hurting your feelings , and they are blurple look at the pictures you posted.....
<----this is the definition of blurple(I call this discotech blurple)...its like a blueish purplish pinkish color...maybe good for having a rave or disco but not so much for growing plants...

No CLW didn't even use osram before 2015 so it's impossible for them to be using the same as in 2008.

I get it now. You're butt buddies with amare shit and just spreading jealous hate. Good job. That's why you randomly jumped this thread. Sure. The latest osrams are from 2008 and they're completely made in China. Like i give a fuck they're giving near same results of a bunch of plants from seed grown by a guy that has only ever grown HID and he says they're better than HID so clearly your experience is limited

I don't care about amare or even own one, just speaking the facts and blurple lights are less efficient than HID lights.
