Why not just put a MH bulb in the Gavita? I skeptical that any 315w light has as much penetration as a 1kw HID.
You’ll be stoked with 4- 315’s in that space for veg.Ive already got the flowering lights ( 2 1000w Gavitas ) but also have 8 1000w with Hortilux Bulbs, that I'm phasing out for something different. I'm just hoping the CHM will cover a 7 x 7 in Veg, and with as much light as possible. I could use what I already have, and probably get just as good of results, but Id like the try the spectrum of the CMH.
I like strong light on my seedlings from the start. Just like the equator, they would be getting strong light from the beginning. I want them growing as fast as possible when put into flowering, and I find HID works for me.. and I don't have to worry about heat, so heat is a non issue.
Im also still considering 2 x 600w Gavitas.
Some wedding cake vegging in 7x7 pots under 315's.IMHO. Penetration is Very Important for developing strong side branching from the start, and no stretching ect. I only grow plants that have strong, and complex branching, for max production.
I want my plants metabolizing like a MoFo before I put them in flowering.
I also veg in larger containers, like 5g at least, and then transplant into 20G for flowering, but this go around Im using a bit smaller containers, but want as much good light, with penetration as possible, as I have a fairly good size area..
My buddy has LED and really only uses it for supplemental lighting, after experimenting. At this time, Im not interested in LED.
Not to be rude, but that is an advertisement not to use them.. Those things need a lot more light, they are far too tall and spindly with too much space between nodes. Some wedding cake vegging in 7x7's under 315's.

I switched all my veg 600 mh's a while back. So happy i did.
Each one of these plants get up-potted into 7 gal pots and vegged for one more week, in a couple more days. Under DE's in bloom after that. I usually rock 10 in a 4x8 tray.
You ever rock the wedding cake? Not to be rude, but that is an advertisement not to use them.. Those things need a lot more light, they are far too tall and spindly with too much space between nodes.
Light movers?/! if money ,height, install wasn’t an issue , I’m curious thoughtsi dont see any reason to spend a lot of money on veg lights, get a couple of good adjustable quantum boards and be done with it, low heat, low power draw, and plants love them.
spend the money on flowering lights, thats where it counts.
light movers are good and bad...if you have either limited room, or a large shallow area, they can help keep both heat and power consumption down, and prevent your lights from burning plants that grow too close, at least till you see it and move it. the down side is it's another thing to buy, another thing that can break, and once you're set up for them, you kind of need them, or else reorganize your whole areaLight movers?/! if money ,height, install wasn’t an issue , I’m curious thoughts
