2x300w or 1x600w VIPARSPECTRA LED lighting for 2-3 plants

Hey

As the title implies, looking to get my set up ready for Canada's new law (though I am a medical patient already) and used to be an HPS guy years ago but looking to start a new with LED!

The Viparspectra series seems good and not to pricey on amazon.

2x300w $228cad
1x600w $$239cad

Not sure if this is exactly accurate but product info states the 300W LED replaces a 250W HPS/MH while the 600W LED replaces a 600W HPS/MH. Not sure if they mean the 300W LED isn't equivalent to half the 600W LED or if they're just using a 250 HPS/MH as comparison since no one uses a 300W HPS/MH lol.

The 600w does have a Veg and Bloom switch where as the 300w has no option just on/off.

Grow tent is 4'x4'x6'

After reading some reviews on RUI about Viparspectra seems like I might need more light.

Maybe the 600w Viparspectra and

Those lights are okay, I've had good results from similar ones, but they are far from the latest tech in LED.

If you're looking for just a cheap light to grow some decent buds I'd probably just get the 600 so you can kind of dim it with those switches while the plants are small. But even with both switches on that light isn't gonna be that powerful in a 4x4.

If you want to maximize your yields and electric efficiency and you're willing to spend a bit more, you can get full spectrum led lights with COB LEDs or quantum boards. Check out timber grow lights. They have a nice 4x4 quantum board fixture and a nice 4x4 fixture with Bridgelux COBs. There are also lots of threads on here about cheaply building really efficient LED grow lights if you're a DIY guy.

Most people on here will steer you towards samsung boards, bridgelux vero29 gen 7 cobs, citizen cobs, luminus cobs, or cree cobs.

Thanks for the info! I have heard a little about COB's and Quantum boards, but they seem very DIY as even amazon doesn't seem to list many kits. Are fully assembled kits harder to come by? I'm just looking for yields equivalent to a 600w HPS. I used to just use a 400w in a 4x4x6 tent so don't need much to improve haha

Just liked the idea of LED's to help with heat as my place gets super dry in the winter so the less heat and fans to clear the heat away the better i figure. But also want top quality budz (quantity not as important).

Wow that might be a good option. Sounds like he knows what he's talking about on the site and will back up his product. Wonder if shipping to Canada is cheap :)

Yeah amazon doesn't have good grow lights as of yet. But there are companies that sell complete and ready to hang fixtures. My recommendation is timber grow lights. specifically either their Model 48SAMS or Redwood VS. These would be current tech. You could maximize your quality, quantity, and electrical efficiency.

Do we know if the omega lights come complete with the metal frame to hang them? I'm no electrician so would want set up to be pretty simple.

Guessing 320wx12 of these lights is much better than say 2x600w Viparspectra LED? I can 2x600w Viparspectra for $480 Canadian. Since $300 US for the Omega Lights is about $400 Canafian

Scroll down and youll see a par map, how much plant available light it gives. Should be around 700-800. It doesnt cover even a 2x2. Yeah, so what its on 24" height, it still doesnt give a decent spread. Hot spot underneath and nothing in the corners.
You can listen to almost anybody here and youll get a decent light. Just dont by anything with with rainbow colors from amazon. They. Are. All. Shit. No, the reivews are made by noobs or sales reps.

High efficiency, white phosphor based light, 3000-3500k is where growing is right now.

Just wanted a way to keep humidity up and temps down a bit as those tend to be my main problems.

Maybe I should be looking at the Omega Light Samsung Strips. Just need more info on how many strips are needed for equivalent 600w HPS. Just looking to grow 2 quality high thc plants, quantity is nice but it's for personal use so quality bud is priority.

Also trying not to spend over $600 Canadian for light after tax and shipping.

On average, when replacing HPS with quality white-light COBs/boards/strips, shoot for around 60% of the wattage.

Edit: this is presuming you're replacing an HPS that was appropriately matched to the size of the grow space in the first place.
