I"m getting my 2nd e-conolight next week and i'm hooking both up inside a DIY cooltube made from 6" pvc couplers attached to a 10" pyrex candle tube w/ 2 of the $29.99 hps agro bulbs w/blue spectrum separately cooled from cab w/my s&p td-125 (197cfm) which is turning into a bit more of a project than I expected. I was just curious if anybody else has tried a setup like this before? BTW, my grow area is about 12sq. ft inside a micro cab. Will have pics when done too!

Friggin sweet man! What kinda fan do you use to pull the hot air out? I have an extra 265cfm duct fan i'm wondering if it will do the job just for cooling lights. If so, it'll save me the $100 I have budgeted for a 2nd s&p td-125....really cool to see somebody else had the same idea :) i really want the 400w from htgsupply but i don't wanna spend the $215 it costs w/my euro reflector. If I use the 2 150's...it'll run me approx.$100 for everything w/ homemade cooltube. What kinda yield do you get w/ those lights? I'm hoping for a q'yuper when it's all said & done.

Wait a minute did you just say you bought $30 bulbs for the $20 150w lights? That wasn't really a wise investment, you'd have been better off buying a third 150w light and using normal bulbs.

I just think you completely defeated the whole budget aspect of those lights. Take those $30 bulbs back if you can and save the money, in this size range it doesn't make any sense to use them.

Other than that I think those cooltube setups with double little hps's are slick as hell.

I'm using one 6inch home depot fan pushing from the beginning and one 4in home depot fan pulling air out. works pretty well and the home depot fans are way cheaper than those huge inline fans for growing. they say the have the same cfm rating but I think doubt they actually perform like the big ones. although the cheapness makes it worth it for me.
I haven't gotten any yield yet thanks to some lowryders that wont bloom...
but yeah your fan should be fine.

Here are my 4 ladies 7 weeks into flower under 1 150w HPS with CFL's.
Very nice looking ladies bro! I'm only at 1 1/2 week flowering & I only hope my 7th week looks as nice as yours.

Well after doing some research, you can apparently get ideal results with an agro bulb which emits more blue spectrum which your plants like in the flowering cycle. I've also heard that it can cause some unneeded stretching b/c the plants continue to grow toward the light source in search of the blue spectrum that isn't there. Just trying to do the most I can for my lil ladies ;) btw, cheapest 150w ready made system i've seen is on htgsupply & i think w/shipping it runs about $75 or so w/o an agro bulb. $32 econo light shipped (give or take a $) + $0.99 extension cord + $30 agro bulb still keeps me cheaper w/ an agro bulb. I can let go of small amounts of money consistently, I just can't let go of large amounts of money sporatically :) (i.e. I don't mind the extra $30 giving the bitches the tan they like)

In theory what you say makes sense but in reality it comes down to raw lumens, more is better, so another light would have been preferrable to the fancy bulbs. It's ok, the ladies will pay you back for whatever you do regardless, but when it comes time to buy new bulbs again just try the originals and I bet you will see there is little to no noticeable difference with lights this size. Long term operating costs will just be lower that's all.

How much is the cooltube glass you're using and where was it from? I have two of the 150's on the way finally.

I feel what you're saying there. I actually have not purchased the bulbs yet so I appreciate the advice & i'll save my $60 on the lamps & use the funds another s&p. Their fans are very quiet and they push a good amount of air. The cooltube glass i'm using is a 10" x 5" candle tube which ran me $14.99 w/shipping which you can buy here:

I plan to attach a piece of 6" pvc coupling to each end of the tube & using either duct tape or weather stripping to snug the pvc up to the tube for an air tight seal. After that i've got a couple of eye hooks that will screw into the pvc ends & hang 'er up by some home depot $0.69/foot chain link. Total cost will be under $30...beats the hell out of $85 for a prefab.
