2nd set of clones dying withing hours... wtf!

It's been one of those weeks. First off, I am doing a sog grow, I had 100 clones ready to sink friday evening, when I got them I noticed thrips and spider mites right away and was choked because I had no pesticides and the grow store was obviously closed. So I panicked and googled a homemade solution of dish soap and baking soda, I honestly didnt even measure. Just eyeballed it (not a smart move I know). Then I individually gave them a pretty intensive spray, put them in soil, and then watered. In the morning I awoke to a really sad crop, 75% of them looked really bad, while some were pretty vibrant. I realized I made a mistake and discarded about 65 clones (a few looked salvagable) got 100 new clones and drained the soil heavily with tap water in the pots and put the new clones in the place of the old ones (now I'm kicking myself for not swapping out the dirt).I came back a few hours later and these ones ARE DOING THE EXACT SAME THING. I'm at such a loss, am I cursed? Could the residual solution be that entrenched within the soil? My clone guys always been solid and others I know use him and have no problems (other than bugs but that's another conversation lol) can anyone help?

Got 100 clones for sog grow
1 630 w cmh being used to veg them currently (nanolux)
Gave clones a soap and baking soda mix spray to kills bugs (soap was dawn dish liquid arm and hammer baking soda)
Clones withered and seemingly died overnight (heavy burn)
Replaced most clones with new ones after drenching the soil
New clones are having same issue
I did use 1ml/gallon of rapid start in initial watering (always done this never had a problem)
Some seem fine, some seem like they will die any given moment
Pic of 2 separate clones, one pretty beat one going strong... they are right beside each other

First thing that comes to mind is how high is the light.. and what's the hi/low temps and RH?

Second is: When you get these clones.. are they already rooted?

You should have them enclosed with really high humidity. The back ground ones look ok. Ive had my Clone lid come off and woke up to my clones laying over like a dog tongue. Literally flat and laying on the dirt deflated and depressed. You can spring them back but i personally cut the tips off most of the leaves as I clone and I enclose them. I also like to cut mine a lot smaller. Size is Personal preference. But humidity is not. More leaf surface = more aspiration. Whatever you cover it with just spray the cover

The light is quite high like 60" , the humidity varied between 50 to 70 over night the temperature did get a little high at one time it peaked to about 90f , I've never had this issue before and always had pretty fluctuated rh over the years but tied to keep my clones hot and moist, they had huge roots like angel hairs and were quite large, a lot larger than I have ever gotten. I just dont understand, I've made some pretty boneheaded moves in the past but instant death seems a little weird. Hell I went out for two days in my early 20s and the breaker running my ac tripped. I came home to all my tops scorched and I still pulled close to a lb a light that run. Sorry to get off topic but I'm just perplexed

While I agree with what ur saying, I have always put clones in dirt put one light on with no ac and over watered and made the room a thick swamp. It's what I did this time and every other time it's worked like a charm, the fact this was so instantaneous has me leaning towards a contaminant from the soap, I used the same water source for my other room and they are looking happy

It's ok. I hear ya. Are you able to dim the light down? I'm sure they will do much better at 40-50% power. I really think the lighting is playing a major role in this. I'm not a pro or anything, but I'm on my 2nd run of clones that I take from my own plants.

I can unscrew one of the bulbs but I have vegged under 1000w de Hps before with zero issues, and no word of a lie the ones right under my cmh look ok so far, If i walk down there in 2 hours and more are wilted and dead I'm tearing them all out tossing the dirt and then venting out the air for 2 days. Problems like this are the worst

Not sure where you got the idea for baking soda. PH of 9.0. I use it, dish soap and soybean oil to kill the weeds in my cracks in the drive. Hard core desiccant. Try some spinosad and you should be good. No more baking soda. Except calibrating PH pens. LOL. Peace and best wishes.

Thanks bro, you think it's so strong that it would stay within the soil after a strong flush (I had like 50% runoff).

You got some added salts. No big deal. But it killed your babies. Quick ph adjustment or PH setting standard. You're good now that you know.

This is the problem though its killing the second batch, which were not directly sprayed. I'm at a loss, I couldn't imagine a small amount in the soil killing the second ones. So weird

Soils cheap. Toss it. Be sure. I put 40 gallons on the compost pile cause I had a PM issue outdoors. Never use again.

1. Get a humidity dome. Don't have any money? Get some 2L plastic bottles and make some out of that.

2. Stop buying clones from this dude, Obviously he has an infected mother or you've put them in area where bugs have spread to the clones. Spray them with Neem.

3. Make your own Mother! Life's hard enough without idiots handing out shitty clones.
