Count me in, I got a Lemon Kush planted in a party cup last night, will post pics when it's germed.

I got two going but I am going to regretfully retract from the competition. I ordered 48" t5's for the veg tv and the LED panel will be going up to the flower room for some additional side lighting. So unless I can start flower soon these will be under T5's...

I know this is an older post because I just saw that you picked up a panel on ebay, does this mean you retract from retracting?

Hey Puff, I keep meaning to ask, do we need to use colored cups or can they be clear??

One more thing, can the cup have holes in the sides like air pots???? I know this was discussed in the registration thread but I don't remember if there was a definite answer to that question.

You can use clear cups if you want, but I wouldn't recommend it. You don't want the roots to receive light.

Hey Bags don't use a clear cup, but if you do cover it up with tape.

I'm doing the hole thing. I would think anything that doesn't make the container bigger would be fair play. Right?

Yeah, I thought everyone was cool with slight mods to the cups just as long as it doesn't increase the size. You obviously can't cut a bunch of holes into the bottom and let your roots hang free. Roots must stay in the cup.

See Endur0xX's comment below. But it will be an LED light of my choosing. Haven't decided on one yet. There will also be some other prizes for Silver and Bronze.

So I started some assorted fem. beans for my main grow and I was just going to use and extra one of those, if that's alright? I used the napkin method and moved em to rockwool cubes in a humidity dome. I put em' in the napkin on the 17th, or do they have to start in the cup? I've never done soil before and I'm trying to figure it out as fast as I can

You can use clear cups if you want, but I wouldn't recommend it. You don't want the roots to receive light.

Hey Gang this is a quick "F*ck Christmas, (But Not The Jesus Parts Too Much), Holiday Update" edition.

Well after deciding the 20 watt wasn't cutting it anymore this week, I starting moving the little bastards around the tent like troubled kids in foster care. Had them under my 5x60 and it was just too far away for them. Tried them under one of my 240s but they weren't getting the light either. I've got them strategically located throughout the grow and they're starting to look happy, all except #4 which is just finally starting to come around after a week of NO growth. I was just about to toss it but I noticed new growth finally, still it's got to the end of the week or it's gone. Is that mean? Oh and red stems are from the lights/camera.

Number 1 Left, Number 2 Right, Number 4 Behind 1 and 2 (In more ways than one ).

OK see ya here next time and hopefully I'll have that better camera and better pics, and some actual growth would be nice too! Then again the tortoise wasn't in a rush either. Mwhahahahahahaahahaaaaaaa.....

This is the PSU section of my update.
Monster genetics IMHO dude. They're of no height and with little veg time but have developed an amazing main-stem in just a few weeks. The weird thing is I just started to notice it's got slender spikey sativa leaves on top but total fat indica on the lower portion? Is this what they mean by a 50/50 mix ? Anyway here's a photo of the main cola of a different one than from last week that I have flowering too. I've got 3 going now .

Please God, please help me not fuck this plant up. And I'm sorry about the little Jesus joke before. Forgiven, right?

Well here is my first update. There is a lot of info so I will try not to babble on. I have "designed" a flood and fill system for the 16oz keg kup. I have a storage bin from wally world for a rez that was 99 cents. I drilled big holes in the lid for drainage from the kup. I drilled metered holes in the kup to allow it to fill from the mini pump but drain in a timely manner.(1 minute or so) My timer is a Woods unit that I modified to cycle 50 seconds on and 4 minutes off. I removed one of the gears and glued two other gears together. It eliminates a 27:1 reduction making a 24 hour cycle equal about 40 minutes. The PH meter was a find that I got at a local university salvage sale for 3 dollars and it freakin works!!! I get calibration and storage solutions for free from work. These pics are a little old so shes just a baby that you can barely see in the pic. Im using my cheapo chinese ufo for seed starting but I have since moved to my new white led.
The germ date was 12/16/12. I started in rockwool and then split the wool and removed here when the taproot was out the bottom and then into the kup!!! I don't know if this is common practice but I do it all the time and it works great for me.

The strain is Papaya from Nirvana. I have not grown this before but I have grown many many others from nirvana and my personal experience has been that they have stable phenos and excellent growth and yield consistently. I am using Gen Hydro flora series and am at 2.5mL of each per gallon now since shes really little. I have some newer pics I will post including my new light specs

I have specifically started another plant in dirt due to some resistance to hydro early on. If too many people are hating on me cuz of the rez size or whatever else, I will scrap the setup and use the dirt plant. It germed on 12/06/12. It is Pineapple express from G13 labs that I received as a freebie. I am going to do some air holes with a soldering iron coming up here. If I keep the hydro plant I will grow the dirt plant in another tent just for the adventure away from the competition.

So here are a couple pics that I just took a few seconds ago. The flood drain system is working as designed and the Papaya is as happy as can be. The big one next to it is the backup Pineapple express that is almost two weeks older that the Papaya. You will notice that the light is white now because I switched to my new DIY white panel. I have made several panels before but this is the first white one I have tried. I have done extensive experimenting with red blue panels and I have ALWAYS ended up with some odd growth and some fast growing and some stunted plants. I actually grow lots of vegetables with them since they are the most sensitive to lighting intesity and spectrum changes. Cannabis is too strong and vigorous to see subtle changes in spectrums and intesity from what I have seen.
I decided to try a white panel from some mind opening work that SDS and all the "family" are doing outlined in the Astir Grow thread. I have to say, so far, I have never seen veg growth this insane in all my indoor gardening with this primitive panel. Specs are as follows. It pulls around 40 watts and all the led's are cheapo crappy chinese 1w units. I love them. I have been using 3 watters with lenses and I am done with that after just a little testing. The spectrum is 22 WW 6CW and 10 reds(635nm). The drivers are also garbage chinese jobs but the actually drive EXACTLY at 300mA acording to my readings. It is dominating so far for vegging but we will see when I start flowering. I may have to add lenses later to really pound the plants and get good bud growth but we will see.

!st picture is of the cup at 12/12, under Kessil h350 Deep Purple, about 32" above her.. Not much growth, not really impressed with the Kessil, but theres still time for it.

2nd picture, the one in black is of the same strain, germinated the same time as the solo-cup entry, but under a Solar Flare at 18/6, I am really liking the Solar Flare.
You can really see the difference as side by side, the Solar Flare is whipping the Kessils ass...

Holy shit, Attitude got me my stuff on time, Christmas eve gift, merry Christmas to me! I will post first update when I drop my seeds in water, but as for now I need to make final decision on what to germ. I think I will throw in the Royal Queen Critical fem, I have 3 freebies from them and I think I will germ 2 of them, keep 1, and send the other into my veg room after deciding which one looks better for the competition.
