ok so i think i got my amendments just about done. im estimating my holes to be about 150-200 gallons or so, maybe a little more. this is what im thinkin

2x perlite 4 cf

#50lb steamed bone meal 1-12-0

#50lb kelp 1-0.15-2

#50lb blood meal 13-0-0

#50lb alfalfa 2-0.52-2

#50lb primal havest bloom 0-8-1


Each hole will get about 5 pounds of each. its close to the supersoil recipe but i added a few things since my holes are bigger. i have a small container with trace elements and will give each hole a half cup or so. also have some guanos from last year so ill use those while they are still in pots. possibly when they are in the ground to give them a little boost. so any thoughts on what i should add or add less of? i will be possibly getting some gypsum and a couple other things if i can affor it.

they arent done but thats what i plan on buying in the next day or two. 8-9 holes btw

do you add nutritents later on?

no there will not really be any nutrients added. possibly some bloom or if anything comes up. but this recipe contains just about all of the fertilizer. the soil im using is native soil which is very terrible quality. some soil from an old property, and sifted compost. all of those with the listed ingredients about.

so got back just a bit ago. 50 lb bags of Alfalfa, kelp, bone and blood meal and pot ash. i already have a 50 lb bag of dolomite. gonna do about 3/4 cup per hole. the biggest thing i need at the moment is 1/4 inch wire for the holes. its 100 bucks though. so any idea for lining my holes thats cheaper would be great. everyone out here has been telling me that i NEED to get something or else the gophers WILL destroy the plants.

much stress is off my shoulders for the moment. so yeah, i have about 60 bucks left for the moment. any suggestions such as gypsum or guanos? im thinking the blood for veg with a little bone and ash, and as the season progresses slowly top the holes with a good dosing of ash and bone for the flowering. it ended up being 0-25-0 for the bone and 0-0-50 for ash. might go with a bloom booster or something when the time comes. any comments and feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you got all kinds of goodies to add to the soil. I've experimenting this year with soil as well. Haven't tryed mixing my own amendments YET, just going with the bag stuff Happy Frog 5-5-5. I had a problem with my soil drying out between visits last year so that's been the main thing I'm working on. Hoping water crystals have the answer for me. Have you ever tryed the all in one nutes like Happy Frog? And if so did you notice a difference between that and mixing in your own amendments?

ive never used happy frog. ive had a few attempts at growing before and things just went to shit. so thats why i consider last year my first grow. it was successful. i used roots organic before when i had a mh/hps going on. i loved it. it dried out really fast and thats one thing that i do like. i like fast drying soil when they are in small pots mainly cause i can water them everyday and feed every other day, as opposed to having some shit that holds a lot of moisture and you end up feeding less often. but last year i had 2 65 gallons. i bought 5 large bags of RO and mixed it with only a couple pounds of each of the listed amendments. if i had the cash i would go with RO, mix with soil amendments, add some peat moss and coco or something to help retain moisture. not sure but im thinking of having the holes come up from the ground about a foot. then when they get taller i can clean the bottom up and fill the top with native soil. shits terrible but its really compact and i think it will help with the soil drying out

That sounds like some sweet soil. I used Roots 707 for soil last year, but since I guerilla grow I'm only able to visit my sites once or twice a week it didn't work to well for me. Alot of stringy bud. Thats the reason for the water crystal and spag. peat soil mix. I'm just hoping the Happy Frog would take care of the rest. How much did you spend on all ur amendments? I went with the happy frog because I'm cheap but I was thinking when I plant to add some more amendments, expanded clay for aeration, and coco coir for even more water retention. What is it about perlite that you like? I didnt want to use it because i didnt like the footprint it left behind guerilla growing.

last year was much more expensive. buying seeds pots and all that. this year ive only spent on soil amendemnts. i was lucky to recieve a truckload of dirt and a big pile of compost so that saved all my money on buying soil. i probably should but cant afford it. so far ive spent 250 on the bags i bought today. gotta get some aviary fencing for the holes and then some other shit. 250 amendments, 30 on 3 bags worm castings (8.50) a piece. i think thats it. i like the perlite just so that the roots get a lot of air. last year i had a bag i used with the 707 and clay. it didnt help much cause i got it after i planted so only the sides got some of it. and the soil i do have dries somewhat clumped together so i want to avoid that as well as dry spots in the soil. any ideas as to what i can use instead of perlite?

I've read that people use vermiculite and lava rock. I'm going to try some expanded clay pellets for hydro on mine. It's very porous so i think it should work well. Plus its cheaper then lava rock and vermiculite.

ok, im gonna look that up in a second. thats what im looking for. something cheap. the only reason i like perlite #2 is because its cheap. $12 for 4 cubic feet. although i couldnt find it. went to 3 different places. everyones out and has a back order. its like fuck man. everyones buying everything that everyone has. lol its funny cause a lot of people are somewhat frantic out here. at least i am haha. but yea clay pellets.

I can imagine everybody being frantic since it seems like everyone on the west coast is growing. lol

so today was okay. the weather has been looking like its gonna rain the last three days. i bought some 1/2 inch X 72 inch aviary netting. they didnt have the hundred foot so i bought the 25. split it in half and i was able to line 4 holes. shits a pain in the ass lol. also bought 2 bags #3 perlite. #2 is out almost everywhere. i could not find it and they all said they were back ordered for about 3 weeks. ive been lazy but all i pretty much have to do is mix the amendments with the compost, soil and native soil and fill them up. oh and the purple wreck popped up yesterday. im wondering if its gonna have two heads or what. havent had a seedling look like this before.

ground hogs. apparently they are extremely bad out here. one guy told me that if i dont put caging then its pointless to grow cause those fuckers will get to it. not sure if they really are that bad or not, but definitely not taking the chance you know? the store ran out of what i needed lol, (shortages for a lot of stuff in this area at the moment) so friday ill try again and get one more 1/2"X76"X25'

yep better safe than sorry no doubt. I'd hate to have countless of hours of work ruined from one bad night. My little spot has 1 trail to it that I've got chicken wire up @ and Im kind of banking on the thick bushes surrounding the rest of it to keep anything else out. actually I might as well set up more since I've got it available and I'm using organic soil. I may have missed it but how deep are your holes? They look similar to mine but mine are probably just over a foot deep. not sure if I should go a bit deeper or not

nice thats a good idea with the bushes. you wanna be careful of whatever outdoor critters you have in your area. my holes arent measured exact, but they are around 10-12 feet in diameter and 2-3 feet deep.
