2nd Grow, Cheese & Brainstorm

it could be new growth... i'll just need to play the waiting game... not too much more to look at in that area for now.

today i added a couple of small weights to some of the large fan leafs on my brainstorm plant. every morning i'd wake up to some of them reaching towards the lights. now they are nice and horizontal creating an even canopy along with the colas.

couple of oddities to note as well...
the cheese (which is now growing alternate nodes) has one side shoot that is developing 3 shoots at a time rather than 2 in a triangle shape. it's quite cool to look at!
...and the shoots growing from the cotyledons on the brainstorm are developing mutated 'butterfly' shape leaves similar to my previous mutant plant that turned out to be male.

today i've been worrying about space in my grow cab. my cheese is so wide now it's looking cramped in there. i'm thinking about asking one of my mates if they fancy adopting the brainstorm. in the mean time i made a dark room right next to my grow cab, the brainstorm is going to get 24 hours in there then i'm going to swap them about. it's not ideal but they didn't look too comfortable this morning when i opened up the cab. i have a cupboard in another room that i may grow in next time around but i'd need to cut holes in the door for venting so it's just a thought for now.

heres a couple of update pics.

hey. i'm looking for a bit of advice today, i'll throw some pics up soon but the thing i'm debating right now is; should i keep growing both of my plants or leave the weaker one and put all of my concentration into the stronger plant?

every day i look at the difference between my plants and think, 'wow... the cheese is doing brilliantly', it's almost a big ball of leaves, looks so healthy etc then i look at the brainstorm and theres like 2 inches between nodes, fan leaves keep standing on end and burning themselves, new growth always looks a bit yellow, underneath the canopy looks empty etc

as well as the fact that they both don't fit in my grow space anymore meaning i need to be home at 12 noon and night to swap them between the light room and dark room... i just don't know if it's worth continuing to grow the brainstorm. but on the other hand i don't want to kill a plant!

grrr i hate decisions like this so i'm going to do it the pussy way and see if anyone else would like to settle this for me!!! or at lease throw their opinion my way! cheers

thanks, your TH is coming along great too. i think plants look really cool early in flowering when you can see the cola developing. good luck with the next couple of months :)

look out! kiddie bud porn below! haha cheese has sprouted her first pubes!

and on the other matter, here are some comparison shots. you can really tell where the better genetics are. they've had the same amount of lovin from the start!!!

so what do you guys think? any advice is more than welcome.:peace:

anyone have even a tiny bit of input on the matter of keeping my brainstorm? i'm thinking of just leaving it near a window as an ornament! but still... i can't decide:neutral:

decision made: brainstorm is now alive for ornamental purposes only!

i'll update tomoro, the cheese looks more and more like a bush every day and now has a few pre-flowers dotted around.

they are true 200w lamps. they do kick out a lot of heat but it is manageable. i've never used hps so i can't compare.

ZOMFG an update! hahaha sorry this thread slowed to a hault for a couple of weeks but fuck it! half the time it seemed like i was talking to myself anyway! but for those of you who are still interested, here's a nice big update.

well the first week of flowering was reeeeaaaalllyy slow, reason being she was incredibly rootbound. she's now living in a big red box that i decimated with a stanley knife. i'd say it's 12-15 litres. growth instantly sky rocketed and she eventually started to outgrow her space and it's looking oh so cramped in there (WHEN WILL YOU STOP STRETCHING!?!). so yesterday (week 3 of flowering) i bent her top 90* ...the canopy is all even now and looking good. i've got about 5" of space left now so hopefully she starts slowing down. if not, a little more bending will have to be the answer.

bought some canna pk 13/14 ill probably start using that this week or next. also this week i will be ordering my second red 200w cfl. can't wait to see how doubling my light changes it up. anyway here's some new piccys

these are as good as my phone camera gets... that ol 'my camera's out of batteries' cliche's in effect once more! :-P

anyway, i'll update again either when there's visible changes or my grow space gets it's new make-over... whichever is first.

ciao

That's a lush looking plant taytheday. Gonna be able to contain that thing till your buds fill out? I hope so, and will check in later if you don't mind. Hehe

hey, cheers for the kind words guys.

i think i'll be able to handle the hight issue now... it looks like the stretching has now slowed/stopped and i've got rid of my reflector and squeezed an extra few inches out of my growspace. the roof is now just covered in diamond pressed mylar.

so here are a few new pics from today: day 35 of flowering.

my feeding schedule has been all over the place experimenting with different amounts of bio-bizz bloom and topmax, canna terra flores and pk13/14. i gave quite a heavy feed last time around and still no sign of burn so experimenting still to be done.

anyway thats all i got for now.

Hey man, Just read your thread, wondering how things turned out?

I've grown the Cheese before (got a mum) and I'm growing out 2 Brainstorm right now.

Did anything come of your "ornamental" Brainstorm? Did it herm in the window?

What did you think of the odor on the Cheese? Mine had a hint of berry to it while growing but cured to a really musty/earthy aroma...MMM...that smell REALLY lingers after you smoke too!

The growth patterns that you experienced matched up with mine pretty well, I LST'd the Cheese to get more tops but that initial growth was SO compact...I wanted to pinch the stalk but the inter nodes were not big enough!
I got 2 different pheno's of the Brainstorm though, both are a bit stretchy but one is REALLY stretchy...she grew into a 55w CFL and topped herself @ the 6th node...she's almost 4" tall now! Way more than I bargained for but pretty much not unsusal for haze crosses...I'd just never had one before. Are you going to try and do anything with the Brainstorm strain? I've smoked it and God DAMN it's a Haze!!!! Such a great soaring, uplifting, motivational thing!

Good Growing!
