2lb Closed loop Christmas gift. How to start from zero?

"I always have 15-20kg of dry ice when I extract with isopropyl as an option."
BTW The alcohol is to mix with the dry ice to create a chemical bath to cool the vessel that you wish to make low pressure as gas below the boiling point is liquid ergo no pressure, conversely hot water bath will boil solvent and create a high pressure. If you can not reach the desired flow rate using this method then you will have to create head-pressure using nitrogen, around 50 psi works for me.

I always purge at -29.5 or as close to -30 as possible. I did a new run this weekend with 300g and got the same yield around 30g.

The difference this time was only buds and flushed 3 times thru the material column + 1 minute soak first flush. Dewaxing column at -50c and collection at -55-60c.

Any suggestions or tips for even better results?

Check this specc for my machine:

For better results you simple have to use better material(bud, trim etc). You can't extract something that isn't there in the first place. Cheers!

My first suggestion is to examine your spent material for intact trichome heads with a microscope. That is how you dial in a process.

Don't worry about trichome shafts. Look just for heads.

Examine at the top and bottom of the column as they will be different.

Prompted by TheSwede's submission of yielding 30g from 300g, I decided to run some complete schwag to see what kind of yield would result.
I used an old column (non dewax), smallest one that I have and packed it tightly with 480g of dried powdered sample that you just could not catch a buzz by smoking a whole ounce in one big "persy" joint. My yield was 32g of what I am guessing somewhere in the 45% to 50% THC range tasty and of a reasonable viscosity. Even though it takes one hour to assemble and disassemble and it is a closed loop system I will not compromise safety so indoors is never an option and being Canadian cold is not an inconvenience it is a way of life, so I toughed out this blow in -25C temps. I must say that the magic of this cannabis alchemy never ceases to amaze me even after 40 years.
