26 watt cfl for vegging

I grow outdoors but for security reasons was wondering about starting my plants indoors. I live off the grid with a small solar array so I am limited by the amount of electricity available to me. I can probably run a 26w cfl no problem for 24/7, but I would rather go 18/6. Is this possible for vegging. How many plants could that one lite grow healthy.

1 26w CFL will hardly work for ONE plant. The more the better when it comes to CFLs. How long are you planning on keeping it under there?

26w would just barely work for one plant for maybe a few weeks... after a little while though you'd need to add lots more. it would be like an adult trying to fill up on a happy meal. gl

Hey Now:
As to your question.........
I highly recommend using 42 watt bulbs. Even better than 23 watts.
Expect slow growth.
It is really difficult to grow herb with this small use of wattage and more important LUMENS.
If you do use CFLs. Use as many as 4,6 or 8 bulbs per plant depending on size of plants.
Also keep them 1-2 inches from foliage. Seriously 1-2 inches. It may burn a leaf or two but hay that happens.
I would give some sun if you can during the day then put them back under lights during the night.( If you can)
Best of Luck.

Thanx for the answers guys. I think ill just stick with the outdoors and live with the heartburn. Maybe one day I can create a waterwheel to power a grow room.
