First time poster, not a long time reader, but I've read about 120
hours worth of material from rollitup and it is by far the best forum
ever.
That being said, I am designing my grow room, which will be located in
my crawl space. I have made quite a few concrete decisions that I'm
not changing my mind on, but I"m looking for input on other things.
I plan to build a room that is 92" long x 48" wide x 40.5" high. This
is the inside dimensions of the room.
I plan to do a RDWC, SCROG. I'm building everything from scratch. I
feel that RDWC best fits my needs and abilities, however height
presents an issue.
From the top of my 5-gal buckets I have 30" to the top of the "ceiling".
My plan originally was to use a 250w MH for Veg and a 250w Eye
hortilux HPS for flowering using a medium super spreader /
adjust-a-wing combo. I know that this is really made for 400-600w
bulbs, but I feel that given my height restrictions, I feel this
spreader/reflector will allow me to keep my bulb as close to the top
of the girls as possible.
My height plan is this: top of bucket, allow plants to grow 8" before
they come to the screen. So screen sits 8" above bucket tops. This
should allow me to have the light/spreader mounted to the ceiling
(allow for some air to flow through between ceiling and reflector) and
still have about 12" to the tops of the plants from the bulb.
I have a few questions. 1st, how TALL is the adjust-a-wing medium
reflector? I've found the L x W dimensions but nowhere can i find it's
height. Also, does anyone have experience using these, how close can I
set it to the tops of the plants without burn using a 250 watt bulb?
My biggest question is: can I squeeze in a 400w HPS (probably stick
with 250 mh for veg) for flowering, without burning my babies, given
my height restrictions?

and I want to get it right before buying everything and starting
