250 watt digital HPS systems

Was lookin around for a pretty cheap package for 250 hps system.

It seems stupid to get one at HTG, because they only have magnetic ones of their brand, and their 250 watt is same price as their 400 watt.

The lumatek and other digitals are pretty expensive too.

HIDhut would be perfect if they weren't out of stock on the 250 watt HPS digital systems for 6 more weeks.

6 weeks? what the hell is going on with that? idk what's going on over there, but my business would never be out of stock on inventory for over 1 week.

So, i'm basically looking for a fairly cheap 250 watt system, preferably digital.

The 400 watt digital HIDhut hps kit is around 159 dollars. The 250 hps, they said is around 139.
Are there any other places like HIDhut that have some nice digital ballasts for cheap?

Thanks a bunch.

oh and since the hidhuts' 400 watt and 250 watt digital ballast systems are only 20 dollars difference, i'd normaly just buy the 400 watt and use a 250 watt bulb. But when i called them, i spoke to a lady who told me that you cannot use 250 watt bulbs in the ballast, and that you cannot control the intensity of the 400 watt bulb if i were to use it.

I thought that all electronic ballasts were capable of handling any wattage bulb up to the recommended wattage. So for ex. a 400 watt ballast would be able to efficiently use a 250 watt bulb without problem. Is she wrong, or are the HIDhut electronic ballasts just inferior compared to the other brands?

thx again.

i don't know about running a250 on 400 digital but mag core have the advantage of being able to run ceramic metal halide of equal wattage as well as hps, digital ballasts will not properly ignite cmh's coursing failure. cmh's are new tech and well worth checking out, they may be the best rite through bulb, tho some like to finish with hps. cmh' bulbs run notably cooler than mh and hps i like them for that reason.Phillips master colour white retro is the leader of this type of bulb...happy trails

where can i get these ceramic metal halide bulbs, and will they run fine on a HTG supply magnetic ballast? Do i need a special base for it, or will it run fine with a mogul base.
