240w Lighthouse Blackstar LED Grow Light 3w LED's

I saw this 240wLighthouse Blackstar LED grow light on eBay for around $300usd. Has anyone here used this particular model? I've been reading about some really good indoor yields using led's. But I don't want to pay a lot if I'm not sure its gonna work. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

There are a couple of Blackstar LED grows under the "LED growers unite thread. Check that out. There is quite a bit of negativity on the Blackstars. But overal from my research they are a good light for the money and get the job done. Check out the LED thread and you'll find a lot of good info.

Two things to note about Blackstar.

1) The claim their product is made in USA and to beware of Chinese imports. This is untrue on both counts. Their products is made in China along with virtually 100% of all grow lights. Virtually every LED chip used in grow lights is manufactured in China. The same with assembly. China is the same as everywhere else. Some manufacturers are superb, some aren't. China is a technologically groundbreaking country. Blackstar are simply misleading you with sales hype.
2) They falsely put videos up on YouTube putting their "American" light side by side with a "Chinese import" and then testing both using a light meter to check lumens. This is ludicrous. Anyone who has any knowledge of agriculture and how light works with plant photosynthesis will know that lumen output is completely irrelevant when dealing with LED targeted PAR wavelengths. They are just conning people who don't know any better. The agricultural measure should be PAR in micromoles.
Beware of this sort of thing. They are good salesmen selling poor quality products.
If they lie about small details, what else will they hide from you?
I totally agree with you and i have stated that on several occasions, but you forgot to put number 3, which is the most important............

3) These led's kick ass

I saw all their videos. They never measured "lumens", I only saw par and lux measurements. Based on my research, these are the best lower priced LEDs.

funny coming from someone trying to promote their own brand while not sponsoring the forum.

I just ordered the 240w blackstar and the 90w HTG Gen3 UFO. I think the blackstar is great quality for the money you pay.

I have the 90 watt from HTG. I do not like it. The price is good for what it does I guess. It veg's pretty good.
I tried flowering, the plants didn't look like they were doing anything. I transferred them to another cab with CFLs,
and they started growing again. HTG are the biggest liars as far as LEDs. They say it is equivalent to a 400 watt
HPS in light output and coverage. I say the 90 watt LED is equal to 90 watts of CFL. 45 watts of HID.

There is sooo much shit talk about Blackstar.... yet there are numerous grow journals even putting their 240w on par with 600w hps.... watch the people bashing the brand names.... look at their posts... its pretty much all they are doing! Unless they are promoting another brand, that is... people who have purchased them like them, or love them, I love mine. If your here simply to trash blackstar, or led's in general, without trying it yourself... you are ignorant and not furthering our culture as growers. More to the point, your an idiot and spreading your idiocy. LED growers BEWARE of morons... and nay-sayers... back your opinions with facts and personal experience, or shut your cock holster!
