240 Watts All White LED Grow Northern Lights

Probably sounds newbie, but isn't the point of LED's to only emit light in the red and blue spectra so as to maximize the most absorbed light bands? Doesn't this new trend of using white, UV, IR, orange, yellow and green diodes fly in the face of this oft-stated goal?

IMO the point is to emit the light the plant need, if that is red/blue then yes, but it don't seems to be enough to grow dank Bud`s, seems like it need more then just two wave lengths so to speak

so it might more be a question on "removing" the bands they don't need, like yellow and green, tho even yellow and green seems to have a impact on the product/quality

IMO the great thing about the Whites LEDs is that they cover most of the spectrum, so your pretty sure to hit the "right" bottoms" and if you support them whites with some of them we know work/is highly needed, like the red/fare red (630/660nm) we can get a great product with less power and heat then HIDs

I love my 6500K LEDs in my fixture, I see it like having "T5HOs" in there :D but with the penetration like HIDs

as I see it its all about getting the plant optimal light with as little power used as possible, but not a minimum of power, I don't need to grow hugh plants with 50W used, Im happy to use 280W, as long as I can get the same product as a 600W HID with less heat and better wave lenghts

just my 2€

Its getting to a point everyday where I look forward to pulling down a cola after dark period and seeing the growth which si noticeable day by day and smell the beauty.

Ah.... I love Northern Lights man, been taking a back seat in here and reading with interest all the discussion on LED's, nice debate going on and I,ve learnt a bit here I think. But back to basics and those recent pics trueg, very nice indeed, well done on this grow.

lol I have neve heard such an odd yet fantastic way to describe a bud. it certainly does though.

And yes, something ive learned is if you keep it basic, even the most complicated things can turn out well. White LED has a lot of potential even with ordinary ones.

Hey, True, checking in to see how things are going and growing. I've followed the 400 NL/ Boss thread but I see you have this LED thread going as well. Pics look good from a week ago.

Things are really picking up. Significant improvement since last week so i will post pics when the lights come on tonight. Thanks for checking up!

I may be missing it in this thread, but are these white LEDs performing as well as panels with specific reds and blues as per usual?

It appears they would be only they are held back due to different problems being implemented but I plan on fixing every one of these problems in my next grow.
