24 Hours of Darkness Before Harvest Increase THC? True or False?

Any truth to what I've heard about 24 or even 48 hours of total darkness before harvest increasing THC? Please cite references.

Also, lets say the finishing date is coming up according to the number of weeks the seedbank quotes for the strain which is a Haze from Greenhouse seeds. The plants look like they are about done. Orange hairs, almost all the green is gone from the fan leaves, buds are fat, plump and look ready. But under the jewelers loupe the trichomes still look mostly clear. Would you give it another week or chop it now?

Tank you in advance.

I usually do a 48 hour dark cycle and I cut right as the Trichomes are starting to cloud like a milky white color not clear. I have found that is the best time to hit the 48 hour dark cycle.

It works for me. I put her in with a lot of crystals. She comes out with twice the amount. 48 dark.

Useful quote:

"The Stichting Institute of Medical marijuana (SIMM), the first company to sell marijuana through the pharmacies of Holland, has been investigating the medical possibilities of cannabis, together with TNO laboratories and the University of Leiden.

One of their discoveries has been that to keep the ripe plants in the dark before harvesting could increase their potency.SIMM’s growers separated a crop of mature plants, harvested half of them and kept the other half in absolute darkness for 72 hours before cutting and drying. Analysis of the resulting dried buds showed that some varieties had seen an increase of THC of up to 30%, while CBD and CBN remained the same."

As far as if the plant is finished, if the pistils have shriveled off and the buds are swollen then I'd call it done.

It's def. true..

however, generally people use the 48 hour method instead of just 24 hours.

I mean, its not going to make a HUGE noticeable difference in potency.. but it does add some potency so they say.

peace.

I like your answer 420God. Some facts backing it. I'm assuming the test was performed taking variables such as curing time, etc. into account. I know the THC content can raise pretty noticeably from curing alone. I'm still a little skeptical, but I'll definitely have to give it a go.
