ive just finished my veg stage 3 weeks ago and when i veged with 2 400w metal halids on 9 and i had them on 24/7 i personly think its the best way. i think u need to get away from the economical sh*t if u want bigger yield

The only real argument I've read for not vegging 24/7 is to save on money. I'm not sure how much much of a difference you would see though vegging say 18-6 vs 24-0. Good luck!

According to Ed Rosanthal you will get 25% more growth by runnung lights 24/7 opposed to 18/6. I usually run my veg room 24/7 but have it on 18/6 right now because I have clones for outdoors in there.(damn frost, I'm waiting to plant outdoors).I haven't noticed any real difference though, maybe a little slower growth, but nothing to worry about. It may only affect electric bill.

they say do a 24/7 for the first week or 2 to get good foliage growth out of the seedling...when its placed in 18/6, the plant begins to work on root growth.....not really sure..

I think 25% is rather generous.

i disagree. being i biologist plants need a time to rest after a days work. thing about nature there isn't light on 24/7 plants have adapted to time to rest. 18/6 gives time for plant to process sugars ect.

don't believe me look it up. many people on here will agree with me

Im doing 24/7.
as for saving costs on electricity bills it has been pointed out before that since your plants would grow a bit slower on an 18/6 cycle you technically still will consume almost the same amount, but just over a longer period of time.

i think its just personal preference. since youve already started 24/7 might as well stick to that and if you want to test the waters and do an 18/6 cycle you can try that next time.

when you say 24/7 light, do you mean light on always. or light on 24 hours, dark for 7 hours. probably a stupid question, i know.

well when we say 18/6 we are talkign bout the hours of the day ( 24)
light/dark ... but i can understand why u would think it was 24 light and 7 darkness

because people mix up formulas ...
keep this inmind ... if its ratios add up to 24 then its hourly .. and well 24/7 is 31 hours ...soo that wont work .. meaning it must be the old saying " twenty-four seven )"

superhighme: really .. maybee but ur like the only one dat made it clear ( with the d.p )
but nice to meet u ..

IMO, plants needs to sleep like humans, so they can work harder and better. But in otherhand if u are in stress 24h you can go crazy :blsmoke:

I vegged mine 24 cycle with no problems other than very fast growth, being that I was in a hurry to get it to a budding size quickly only did it for a month and that sucker was ready to go.:blsmoke:

Where I live there are light outside 24/7 during the summer, and there is plenty of plants and trees and stuff outside. So even if I'm not a biologist I'll have to say that you are wrong. 24/7 light do occur in nature, maybe the plants here are different somehow but your still wrong

On the other hand plants dont have a central nervous system and drive SUV's...

I guess the important part I learned from this thread is that it cannot hurt either way.
