What are the benefits were to having 24/0 to 18/6 lighting?

I've read alot of people doing it both ways with success but haven't seen much about the goods/bads on both if any.

Right now I've got 12 3 week old seedlings under 8 t5 ho lamps (4 blue/4 red) on 24/0.

Well just like you've read all you're gonna get are more opinions, but scientifically, this is what I've read.
Roots do grow in the dark, but that doesnt mean they aren't growing when the light is on. Roots only use 80% of the soil you put them in, not using the 20% top half where the light can break through. The 18 hours of light that the plant is getting is helping it grow, storing stuff it needs, and using what it stores during that 6 hours. If there was 24 hours of light, the only difference will be is the plant will be always growing and always storing. So what it really comes down to, is the 24/0 will give more growing time. I've done research up the ass on this to figure out my setup, and thats what I've read and concluded. Either way, don't switch your lighting on your girls till next setup if you decide to.

I have found doing side by side grows that the 24 hour on light makes thicker busier plants with healthier growth and as much faster rate of growth. The 24 hours on shortens the amount of days you need to veg actually saaving money compared to the 18/6 light schedule.I fond under 24 hours light I veg my clones for about 10 days and get 14 inch thick busy plants ready to go to 12.

I agree with Fletch..I've done it both ways and 24/0 works the best for me. Get your veg done sooner and if your using floro's it's cheaper on the power. I don't use my hps/mh system until I go to 12/12. Just my experience....

I have always been taught to leave your plant in 24hr light for the first 1-2 mo. Then go to 18/6 and hold that until your plants are ready for flowering.

hey the key is definitly 18..and hey you need to only run two of those blues to 4 reds if there t5 6500
Interesting... if anything I thought more blue during seedling-veg and more red for flowering. The reason I use all 8 bulbs is to get as much light as possible on em.

One's I use are T5 54 watt (i think 2000 lums/bulb) - still think I should use more red??
