So I've had my plant for a month and a half or so and she's about 2 feet tall. I have her indoor on 24/0. Should I put her on 18/6 instead? is that better? i know when i want to flower i'll switch to 12/12 but i want to know which to do for now.

stick with 24 its doesnt really matter anyways unless your having a heat issue then you have less time to worry bout it when off. 18/6 can sometimes auto flower if veg too long

since u have been using 24/0 stick with it. Also i have been told by some growers that you do not get anymore growth by going 24/0 when compared to 16/8. after 16 hrs the plant cannot absorb any more light. not sure if this is true just throwing it out there. if u run 16/8 u can cut down on your electric bill alittle bit.

18/6

  • Reduced electricity costs. When you have a good mother plant collection and clone cycle, you don't need the increased growth the extra light provides. Lowering the cycle will save money.
  • Allows the equipment and room to cool down. Those 6 hours of darkness can be timed to happen during the hottest part of the day, providing some relief for growers in hot climates.

Ive heard you need the dark, because the plant does processes while it sleeps, and it can actually grow more in the sleep, if you leave it in the dark 6 hours.

well i'm cheap and lame so my lights are three regular lamps, two with plant bulbs and one with one of those huge plant bulbs thats flat at the end. does this change anything?

Hey Rick, dude, I gotta ask...are these plants going outside to flower?
I am just being nosy, as she's at 24" tall and 6 weeks old, you do realize that once you start to flower she will atleast double in size?
As in indoor grow, this would get pretty hard to get light to the whole plant.
Peace
PS, the norm is 18/6

im using a cheap setup too, 4 cfl's for starting seeds/sprouts ... i used 24/0 for the first 4 days but like mogie said its mostly a matter of electricity and heat .. im now doin 18/6 to give the little guys darkness

FWIW, I use 24 hours of light on ALL of my plants that I eventually put in ground outside....Peppers, cosmos, coleus, impatiens, cannabis, etc, etc.
IMO the plants get bigger, faster under 24 hours.
I like to "pump" my plants up before they go outside!

I also use 24 hours for all of my strictly indoor crops.

Why not try 16/8? Supposedly that is the best for better root growth. Will probably save you a few pennies as well. Good luck.
