24/0 hours or 18/6 hours? What is better?

I have heard a lot about 24 hour constant light cycles in the veg stage. what advantages do they have to a 18 hour light/6 hour dark cycle. I would figure that giving the plants some dark would be good for them. I don't know so I'm asking.
I started a couple of plants about 4 wks ago in a box that a degu (small rodent) cage rested on. Now its my tv stand. Check out the attachments to see the box. The wooden door opens from a hinge on top, and the thing is draped with tapestries. The only visible sign that there is anything under the sheets is the fresh air intake on the side and the electrical strip with timer hanging from the cord coming out of the box. Its stealth now, but it wont matter soon cause its gonna smell.

stays relevant.
My favorite advantage, the room has a chance to run during a cool period. From 12-6pm they can be turned off. (During the hottest times)

I woke my favorite one up from sleep to take some pictures. she (is female i hope) was looking nice after I spotted some browning on the leaves earlier today. After I saw brown on one of their tips was I drilled two more ventilation holes and flushed the plants with distilled water. I have a temperature gauge in there and it was reading 92 at one point. I am running a 70 Watt HPS along with one 18" fluorescent "grow light" from Wal-Mart and 2 hanging small fluorescents. As I have it now, the system looks a bit dangerous, but I think if i move the extension cord that I coiled around the wooden plank the sodium bulb is hanging from, everything will be fine in the light department. Ah they smell good now. Anyway, I got those hanging fluorescents so I could raise up the lights a bit and get that sodium bulb off the plants a bit. Hopefully tomorrow the temp stays around 80. probably not, though. The picture with the white thing is the filtered fan I purchased from Wal-Mart, duck taped to the wall. I need better vents, preferable more filtered air to keep the smell down.

i run a 20/4 sometimes its a 19/5 this is for the veg, i do think some lights out is necessary, as it is in natural, unless your growing a autoflower ,or an equator plant.

Well, I've done the experiment myself, with 12 clones (6 in each of two exactly identical cabinets), same lighting, same soil, same nutes. I ran the boxes for one month, one box at 18/6, and one at 24/0. The 24/0 plants were about 1/3 larger than the 18/6 plants after one month. That's the same as the info the Cannabis Grow Bible gives -- that 24/0 is better unless you need to slow down growth for some reason, or your ventilation isn't adequate without the cool-down period.

Of course, your mileage may vary, and there's no reason to take either my word or that of the grow bible. It's best to do the experiment yourself, so you can see with your own eyes and draw your own conclusions. I am totally convinced after my experiment that 24/0 gets me fat buds faster than 18/6, for about the same cost in electricity.

18/6 is best for optimum veg growth. I only Ever use 24/0 for seedlings or clones.

The reason you want 18/6 for veg is that your plants actually need that 6 hours to sleep, yes marijuana can sleep, the plants shut down photosynthesis and stop foliar growth, they do continue root growth which is key for that new day of vigorous growth.

You will notice surprisingly faster growth with a 18/6 cycle compared to a 24/0 cycle.

Plus there are alll the other advantages, like growtech said you can shut down for the hottest parts of the day, and every 4 days thats 24hours worth of electricity that your not paying for!

You picked a really old thread of no relation to ask for help for your problem? I don't get it.

Given the most common problem, and no pics. Overwatering or nute burn.

You should go to the sick plant forum and make a thread.
