I still have 1 sativa from bagseed in the ground. Its on its 11th wk of flowering. It is definitly not ready yet. It has about 2 or 3 more wks yet for full maturity. It is gonna get down to 22F tonight what is the worst case scenario. I mean if the frost does kill the plant will it have any degrading effects or just force me to harvest early? thanx

ok I would like to chop 2nite b4 frost if any severe damage to plants may happen. I am concerned that if the bud freezes too much that it may be un-smokable. Since noone here wants to help me I have did a search and guess what...I found that there is so many people saying so many different thnings that I dont know what to do. ! guy says yes do chop, other says they will be ok...bla bla bla. This is my last of 3 plants. I had 2 indica plants chopped a month ago. I got plenty of weed but dont want to waste this plant. Like I said my main concern is that if the buds freeze too much that they will become useless to smoke?

I've always stayed cautious and cut before the temps dropped too low.

IDK, try it? Let us know if anything happens.

i cant imagine it hurting the bud itself but im an indoor grower and have no idea. the plant is actually in the ground?
yeah its actually in the ground. So if the buds freeze and die they will still be good to smoke? I am afraid that I may loose more smoke from frost than I will gain by growing longer.

110611 (5).jpgThis is after several frosts.110611 (8).jpgI chopped after a temp of 24 degrees. I think 22 degrees111211 (5).jpg will destroy them. Most of the damage was in the leaves. I was forced to trim really tight. They wilted and would have rotted (I think) if I would have left them on. If I had to do it again,I would chop before 22 degrees. Good luck I hope I'm not to late!

I looked at ur pics. My plant looks nothing like that. My plant has tight buds. As a matter of fact it looks almost exactly like ur avitar except my colas are more purplish-brown and the leaves growing at top of cola are curled up and getting crispy. Maybe it is closer to harvest than I think. I dont have a camara to take a pic. I have been reading this thread: https://www.rollitup.org/outdoor-growing/462407-outdoor-growing-faq-read-before.html. Halfway down are pics he posted showing "not ready" and "ready". My colas are much much closer to the ready pics than the not-ready pics. The only thing is that I see new growth almost daily and they arent "fuzzed" up nearly as much as the "ready" pics in the other thread so that is why I think they have a few more wks to harvest.

one frost wont kill and ruin the plant it will be fine.
its already been thru 1 frost. One night about 3 wks ago it got down to 30F with a heavy dew. The plant actually had ice on it.

I'm in the same boat, Riley. I left her uncut and will check tomorrow. If she's still alive I've got another week or so of good weather.

good luck man. I just looked at her again. It looks like the frost damaged the fan leaves only(of which this plant has very few for some reason). The buds look ok and all the smaller type leaves which grow in with colas look ok. Id think by tomorrow I could tell for sure but I think shea ok but the fan leaves prolly wont perk up, I think they are done for.

My plant had tight buds also. That pic was after the freeze and all the leaves wilted.
