dude, get a negatine ion generator, i have heard great thins about them first hand... idk how they work and price but heard good things... i am gonna check it out at some point as wekk
thats the same thing as an ozone genorator. u can get some really powerful ones that litteraly kill smells in warehouse sized spaces. i heard of somebody that actually got caught growing by using one in his house as the distinctive ozone smell was escaping and u could smell it down the street. must have been somebody thats wise to thier uses and grassed him up.

I tried this, was really unhappy with the results. The ion generator removed too much odour, leaving the buds almost without aroma, and also seemed to negatively affect taste. maybe just because of lack of aroma. It may , however, work for you, every situation is different.

Yeah,it smelled like hot wireing all the time. I kept checking timers and stuff ,thinking that something was overheating. The ion thing was expensive too, I think it was around $100.00 when I bought it. It was a few years ago when I was stealth growing.

I went to the hydro store at lunch & bought some of that "Ona" stuff in a small jar. Opened it at work (sell cars in a small office building with THE one & only bathroom here (great odor combinations:?). Anyway, I thought it would be a good test for it. Wow! In less than 20 minutes it started smelling CLEAN in here. I'll still let you all know how it works for the real purpose after a day or so for a test. But at this point it looks good:mrgreen:. Keep fingers crossed. Also, it was $8.00, so if it does work, I'll try to find it a little cheaper;-). They said it will last about 1 1/2 months, so I'll need more:cuss:. But it's a small price to pay for the eventual outcome.:eyesmoke:

After a day of use, I have to report that I will probably be making a DIY Carbon filter system. The Ona does work to a degree, and with the size and age of my babies, I don't think it will be sufficient when I put the girls into flowering stage. Plus, there IS an odor  given off that, when mixed with something a little "skunky", has a very unusual smell combination. So, when they get closer to flowering, I'll combine the use of a filter. So, if I have anything further to report on the trial of "Ona", good OR bad, I'll let you all know. And of course, if any of you have something else you think I should know, PLEASE do so.:weed::bigjoint::blsmoke::peace:

As always, thanks to all my colleagues for any and all help. You are the best, people, you rock. Smoke on brothers & sisters. Or, as my early heroes, The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers would say, "Keep On Truckin'" :lol:bongsmilie:wink:

PS-- Below is a pic of one of my girls (hopefully) at 24 days now. Ain't she purdy? :eyesmoke:

I have been reading the DIY carbon filter, and was going to give it a go, then i sat down and thought about, what is the point in making one my self, when they only cost 30 - 40 (only need a small one myself) so i went and brought one

Can you attach a pic of it? I'd like to see it. And where'd you get it?:?: Yeah, if I can get one cheap, I'd go that way too. How loud is the pump? Do you think it can be muffled enough to keep area stealthy?

Thanks in advance Random noise boy, I look forward to your experienced input to help my babies produce more & better "foliage". :joint::peace::bigjoint:bongsmilie;-)

I am about to start my 1st grow. My 1st step was the Tent and air flow and elimate the smell. My supplies...

3x3 room (tent) ~200
Carbon filter 4" ~65 (dont forget the Flang thing)
Can Fan 4" ~200 (a inline fan to suck the air though the fliter.)
6" Dry Vent duct (In take) ~8
4" Dry Vent duct (out take) ~8
(4) 32" Bungee cord ~10
(2) power strips
(1) Tower Fan ~20

My 1st test..

Smoked a Joint in the tent with the can fan and Tower fan running and there is was no smell outside.

2nd test...

Smoked another Joint (all for testing you know) in the tent with only the Tower fan on (Tower fan is like a nomal fan uses to move air around inside the tent) when I was done smoking i turned on the Can Fan for about 15 minutes. There was a small amout of smell (needs more testing).

My consurn is how long to run and how offer to run the fan. The CFM on the fan is 177 so the tent should be cleared in 20secs.
Things i can think of.
1. Run it 24/7
2. use a 7on/off timer every few hour run it for 15 - 20 minutes.
3. Drop 100 on a periodic time that would allow me to turn on for 1 minute off for 4 minutes.
4. Any other Ideas?

It is a bit noisey like the AC is on, but only in the room that the tent is in.

i bought a 5" silencer to help reduce noise of the exhaust,, does help quite a bit.. but even beter due to it having a cloth between a grill tube, u can soak it with fragrance oil, ie the ones used in oil burners. covers up any remaining smell nicely, i went for a fragrance that smell like shower gel.. as to imitate a extractor fan from a bathroom.

Sounds like a great idea, TribalTrig. Where'd you get it and how much was it? I hate being a penny pincher and always asking the price, but times are a little tough selling cars right now . Every dollar makes a difference. And the idea of a fragrance to imitate the ordinary is brilliant . Good job TribalTrig, as usual, you rock.

Jarhead, sorry not been on all weekend

I've not got a pic, but here is a link, filter from £26.50 depending on size

Greenfields Hydroponics UK - Carbon Filters

Problem i'm having now is getting a quite small fan
No problem, Random noise boy, I hope you enjoyed the weekend. Now all I need to do is figure out what the monetary difference is between my dollars and your pounds...LOL :lol::lol:. If you look in the DIY sub-folder, you'll see a filter that looks very similar in shape and size that you can make pretty easily it looks like. As many of my posts elude, I am a very cheap grower (well, frugal anyway). I do appreciate the follow-up tho, thank you.:weed::joint::bigjoint::eyesmoke:
