Sucks assIf anyone has ever wondered how termites and cannabis play together..
Stalk damage that I first thought was from some sort of rot, was chopping away today and noticed the inside of some main branches were black, sliced it open and saw a few friendly faces to confirm my suspicion that it was from termites. Fuckers take the trophy over borers for worst pest I've had to deal with.

Saw the stalk damage back in July, the plants looked great up until pre flower stretch. Every fan leaf on one plant turned yellow and dropped within a week and the rest of the plants gradually but aggressively yellowed out. Without a doubt I missed out on so much yield which is depressing probably at least 30% weight. Its surprising that the girls even made it to harvest which I'm thankful for, but Im questioning if I'll even be able to grow in this spot for future seasons which sucks.

Big time. Didnt have an issue last year but the drought conditions this year definitely pushed them up into the plants. The colony is probably in the millions and has been living in the mulch over the garden for more than 2 decades. Aint a damn thing im doing to get rid of them now lol
Prep the area next year with boric acid and beneficial nematodes
Pymethrin on the ground. Won't help the plants. At least remove the infestation.

Ill look into these thanks you two! Diatomaceous earth would be a tough one since the termites are subterranean. The mulch goes around about 2000sqft so if its going to break the bank I might start with the ground around the pots lol. Maybe throw in some beauveria bassiana. Ill also do some research on companion plants if one exists that deters termites. My main concern is messing with other life in the garden, have a fairly large plot of mint that brings on 1000s of pollinators for example. I cant justify killing the natural populations living here for the sake of my own gain.
I respect this gardening practice as ganja growers usually get a bad rap for ruining lands
I am organic and frown on pymethrin. Love diatomaceous when used properly. However the pymethin when used in late fall will be taken into the colony on food ingested. It will dissapate to far below safe levels for our friendly beneficials in the spring. And not be transferred to new growth at detectable levels. And powder is cheap. Hope this helps. Follow precautions and wear PPE including certified particle mask for large areas.
Thank you for the knowledge drop, good stuff! Honestly before you mentioned it, I wouldnt have much of a clue where to start. Termites arent a really widely known cannabis pest from what Ive seen (I was skeptical at first) but they are definitely no joke.
Yeah man, went down the rabbit hole as soon as I found out about organics lol, cant have happy plants without happy earth.
