subcool,

Thanks for the work that you've put into all of this. I was wondering if you have ever (or have ever been in contact with someone) that has used water absorbing polymers (or zeba quench) in conjunction with your soil recipe (for those of us whom plant in locations far removed from a water source). Specifically, planting in the ground (not containers). If so, do you have any ratio recommendations or know if it would even be beneficial. Otherwise, I guess I'll just experiment myself this year. :) Thanks for any suggestions. (I know you're busy!)

Sooooo wat would be a good mix for anyone to run from seed prior to using the Super Soil mix? Would just feeding BioBizz or something like that work in early stages? And when would anyone recommend to start using this mix(what week/stage of the plants life) if growing from seed?

Sorry if Im askin too many dumb questions. Never have done a soil mix. Always used soilless and hydroponic methods. doin my first TGA run( Vortex & Dairy Queen day 2 of flowering, and looking good) so, I'm thinking about doin 1/2 my next TGA run(Plush Berry hopefully if u would release it already! LOL. J/K)but as I was saying... I wanna do 1/2 my next TGA run in Subcool's Super Soil, so any help explaining steps from seed would be grand!

Thanks my bros and sis!
*Sigh* There are 51 Previous Pages and that info is on the First page...... But since nobody seems to want to read these days. When You Veg you can use Roots Organice, Bio Bizz, Fox Farm Ocean Forest, Whatever you use. Yours plant can just veg in your soil if she looks like she needs food add food if not let her veg till shes strong enough to go into super soil. When shes ready transplant into 1/4 or 1/3 SS with the rest Regular soil(ROOTS,FF,BIOBIZ) AND YOURS GOOD and for all these Facts im repeating CAN I GET SOME DAMN REP lol

So I've been lurking in the background for a while with this post while reading up on other things and I really wanted to know if I might face any problems with adding perlite or fytocell (I know not organic) to loosen up the soil structure and make the pots lighter. As is I used this the same way subby said he does in a 7 gal pot but with my back I was having trouble moving things around so I dropped down to a 5 gal air pot and shortened the veg time without much trouble but if I add the perlite or fytocell to the base soil will I get any freaky nute effects and from weighing things out could I go back to my 7 gal pots and 60 day veg? I figured that anything to increase the feeder roots would be a good thing but I've only been growing the medicine for a little while so I still have a lot to learn.

Sub your organic mix has made me a lot more comfortable than I would have been buying my medicine from others, I know exactly how my ladies are treated and what they get fed. Thanks a lot

If the weight of the potted plant is giving you problems then "cutting" the supersoil with perlite won't help. If a given plant needs the nutrient load delivered by (for example) 3 gallons of supersoil then you need to give it the full 3 gallons. If you cut the ss by 50% with perlite then you would only be giving the plant 1.5 gallons of ss, thereby resulting in a nutrient deficiency. Without knowing anything about your room setup, I'd suggest rolling plant stands. If you can make them work in your room you'd be able to roll your plants around rather than lift them.

I like the likes too! If people start using them it could cut the length of some of these threads. Instead of page after page of "lookin good bro" comments we can see one post with a bunch of likes.

Thanks for the info, I was looking at dollies at the hemp depot but I wasn't sure they could take the weight. Any other tricks to make moving my girls easier?

Hey sub or anyone else.....what is so special about the BioBizz light mix that you use??? I havnet seen this soil at the local hydro store but there are a few around here so im not giving up hope yet... but im kind of wonder what makes it so special, since i cant really find a lot of info on the ingredients... the guy at the hydro store suggested i give happy frog a try but i would like some other output about this.....i read on here that you can use light warrior, what are the finishing results compared to the biobiz light mix?? anyone else use something different? and what are those finishing results? havent really been in the organic game for long so i havent experimented with a lot of different soils, i love roots!!! so i may just stick with 8 bags of that if there is not a huge difference

I always start with at least 6-8 large bags of high quality organic soil. The selection of your base soil is very important, so don’t cut corners here. I cannot possibly discuss all the different products but I will mention a few notable favorites. A good organic soil should cost between $8-10 per 30 lb. bag. To get a really good idea of what I consider to be a balanced soil, take a look at the ingredients of a product called Roots Organic:

Lignite*, coca fiber, perlite, pumice, compost, peat moss, bone meal, bat guano, kelp meal, Green sand, soy bean meal, leonardite, k-mag, glacial rock dust, alfalfa meal, oyster shell flour, earth worm castings and Mycorrhizae.

I have always had success in giving my plants a wide range of soil amendments; I figure it's like a buffet where they get all they need.

“Lignite, also known as leonardite, mined lignin, brown coal, and slack, is an important constituent to the oil well, drilling industry. Lignite, or leonardite as it will be referred as hereafter, is technically known as a low rank coal between peat and sub-bituminous. Leonardite was named for Dr. A.G. Leonard, North Dakota's first state geologist, who was a pioneer in the study of lignite deposits. Leonardite is applied to products having a high content of humic acid. Humic acid has been found to be very useful as a drilling
mud thinner.”

Another soil product we are now testing is called Harvest Moon:

Washed coco fibers, Alaskan peat moss, perlite, yucca, pumice, diatoms, worm castings, feather meal, fishmeal, kelp meal, limestone, gypsum, soybean meal, alfalfa meal, rock dust, yucca meal, and Mycorrhizae fungi.

The Roots Organic soil has typically produced a more floral smell in the finished buds, while the Harvest Moon generates larger yields.

If you have access to good local mixes like these, then I highly recommend starting with these types of products. We have also had decent results using larger commercial brands, but not without plenty of additives. The best result we have seen from well known soil that is available nationwide is with Fox Farms “Ocean Forest” soil combined in a 2-1 ratio with “Light Warrior,” also produced by Fox Farms. On its own, the Ocean Forest is known for burning plants and having the wrong ratio of nutrients, but when mixed with Light Warrior it makes a pretty good base soil.

FYI i just copied and pasted from the first page

I just made my super soil and i added twice the amount of earth worm castings and blood meal by accident. What would be the reprocutions of this?

Yea i wish i had your answer some things wont hurt adding a little more but some stuff (I think Bat Guano is 1) will burn the hell out of your plant. I guess doubling up is fine........ ill be making my soil Wednesday wish me luck :D

hey sub i took your recipe and used it starting about two months ago. everything is lookin good so far, (just about to flip them):eyesmoke: but my question is what do i do after the crop if i want to recycle it? do i need to try to separate the super soil from the base soil? do i just mix them together and re-amend? if i re-amend, what are the amounts. Lastly you say in the revision to add cal-mag powder if you use ro water. i didn't do that cause i didn't see that. what could i do at this point about the cal-mag thing? thanks for your time man.................ps i just picked up some third dimension seeds..................i'm super stoked to see what happens with em!!!!!
