Let me preface this journal with this post -

https://www.rollitup.org/grow-room-design-setup/91059-first-room-s-op.html

and this photo:

I live in Oakland, CA and I am allowed 72 plants PER prescribed patient in my house, up to a limit of 3 patients per home. Either that or 32 sq ft of canopy :D

We started this room over a year ago and this is the start of our 4th grow. I still very much feel we're completely in an experimental phase as things change things with every grow...a lot of things :)

Here's the grow room in its current state

We added double doors to the entrance for when we need to tend to the ladies during the night time...foliar feeding, pH checks before lights on and what nots. 100% light leak free...even added the weather stripping all around the door and on the bottom to ensure total seal ^^

Here's our 40gallon res with the water chiller, we keep the water at a solid 68 F and even have a heater in there set @ 68 F incase the temp dips too low.

Also in the res are a 1000gph pump for the drippers and a 191gph pump to supply the chiller.

We are currently using the Cutting Edge Solutions line for our nutes. We use all 6 parts of the CES nutes along with the following FOR VEG:

Hygrozyme
Roots Excelurator
Sweet
Super Thrive
Drip Clean

We drip for 15 minutes every 2 hours during the 20 hour day phase.

In this photo you can see one of our 3 wall mounted, oscillating fans as well as the CanFilter 38 Special 100 with a 693cfm CanFan - the room is sealed for 20 hours a day and then during lights out...the CanFan pops on to dump the air out. The ducting is part of our closed, light-cooling system...this part brings cool air in from the room next to it with the help of 2 vortex fans...you can also see the piano string that we dual purposed...1 is to hang the co2 tubing above the table (clothespin with the black tubing)...but more importantly, we use it to dry the harvest :)

Here you can see the 2 vortex fans which are attached to our hoods. We're running 2x Lumatek 1000w ballasts. We recently cut down from 2 x 1000w + 2x 600w (3200w total) because heat was an issue for us. If you read the previous post I linked...you can see C3PO and R2D2 in this pic :) :) :) As well as our newly added 5000 BTU window A/C (with remote!!!) and the co2 tubing clipped to the piano string.

This is a 12,000 BTU Hydrofarm portable A/C...dunno why they call it portable..you gotta make holes in the walls to attach the intake and exhaust ducting...I guess because it has wheels. We keep the room right around 70 F. We're growing a couple of purple strains and really will be able to put the screws to them once they start flowering :)

One of the two humidifiers. We keep humidity between 55-65% FOR VEG. On clearance @ Wally's for 10 bucks each :D

The newest family member, the IGS-061 co2 controller. Set @ 1500ppm this thing keeps the room nice and enriched, even has a light sensor so it don't dump co2 during the night cycle...co2 has made such a huge difference in our grows that we highly suggest spending the loot for a tank and distribution system...even if you don't go for the controller right off the jump, there are plenty of online calculators that can help you figure out the flow rate and timings.

Now on to the ladies!!

Most of our clones came from Harborside Health Center in Oakland, CA on 11.13.09.

3 x So Gouda (Blueberry x Cheese x G13 Haze)
7 x Purple AK 47 (Grandaddy Purple x AK 47)
5 x Purple Kush (Hindu Kush x Purple Afghani) <-- These clones come from Blue Sky Cafe as they get them directly from Oaksterdam's nursery.

This batch we're trying different grow medium as we're looking for the best results from the one's we've previously tried.

We have 1 of each strain in a 3x3x3 rockwool cube on top of a 8x8x8 cube.
A Purple Kush (PK) and Purple AK (PAK) are each in a Sure To Grow (STG) Storm that is surrounded by Hydroton.
The rest are in a 50/50 mix of Hydroton and Diatomaceous Earth.

Some of the PK and PAK.

PK. Color is a little light as we only go 25% nutes the first week while they acclimate.

So Gouda.

PK in RW.

Any questions or comments are more than welcomed. I'm sure I've left stuff out...but it's late/early and I can get to them in future posts. I'll get more detailed on each plant as well.

Stopped by the club today and they had some Purple Diesel (Purple Afghan x NYC Diesel) and some alleged original Manatuska Thunderfuck (MTF).

I asked the clone guy if it was THE MTF and he said the guy vendors it as well and they tested it @ right around 21% THC. He believes it's the real deal. We'll see.

I grabbed 3 x PD and 2 x MTF.

Here's some pics of the clones - I have 6x6x6 RW soaking now for these 5.

I was picking up some co2 today from my hydro guy and they had these new pint measuring cups...I grabbed two because they were only 5 bucks each and when I got home I noticed they had the regular tsp. TBsp, ML, ounces and what nots on them...but when I looked at the last set of units I was pleasantly suprised!!

LOL. Good shit.

More updates later.

***Updated Pics***

Day 18ish :)

Few changes:

Swapped to an 18/6 light cycle to help cut back on the co2 and nute usage.
Also, as you can see, we changed the table. Went from a white 4x8 to two black 4x4. We wanted to increase the watering time to 15 minutes on / 15 minutes off and recirculate the nutes and we find it easier to manage run off with 2 tables.

Here's a few pics of the ladies now.

MTF's and a PD @ 10 days:

More updates later!

i have a question regarding your ac unit. i am kind of unfamiliar with how a portable unit like that works. intake i understand comes from the "outside. are the grates on top the "hot" air that warms the room? is the air coming from the exhaust duct the same temp as the air that is "warming the room. i am wondering because i am interested in using a similar setup and would like to use the ac to "warm" two seperate rooms. i would do this by adding a T to the exhaust and then running seperate ducting. the significance of this is because i intend to use a closed lighting system and by using my ac as intake only i can control humidity easier and also save co2. i would like to fid a unit that has a thermostat that is compatible with greenhouse controlers as i intend to also use one of those. i would appreciate input if you dont mind. thanks
