Well you may think not but im from tennessee. And it wasnt legal there either. So you better not grow with anything other than blurple. All other lights are hot and will be picked up by the infrared camera on the pot chopper. As for the electric bill, if it goes up too much suddenly theylike to get warrants to check out whats going on. Pot is still a wicked state and federal offense in some places like tn and ky. Ive seen too many people get busted because their garage was smoking hot on infrared.
That's some funny shit man. Are you trying to play an April fools joke on us, lol.

Those blurples put off a lot more heat than the quality LED's, which is why they need a fan.

But just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they're not out to get you. The choppers are probably monitoring all your movements now, not just your new grow, lol.
Well hate to tell ya but i worked for the SD in middle TN for 5 years after i got out of the marine corps Every year late winter early spring we had more home growers in the jail than you could count. They were getting 5 to 7 years if they were lucky. All picked up by the pot chopper in residental housing. So i finally left the department. and no im not paranoid , i live in san francisco. That shit is way legal here.

Hey there!

We have similar stories. I'm not a user at all (recovering alchoholic/addict) but my fiancé has Crohn's and the only thing that worked for her was weed. So I started growing about 3mos ago when I got sick of paying $600oz from the local dispensary. (yes...it's that much here!)

I just did a whole 4X8 for under $2K and it honestly rocks. Check out my grow-room setup thread, and my grow journal and it takes you through the entire build.

I'm only growing Autos so I can keep the light schedule the same. I'm planting 2 seeds every 2-3 weeks so I can always have a plant or two ready to harvest every month. That will net about 8-10oz a month, which is way more than she can smoke, but it lets me give weed to my friends too. Anyway - here's my shopping list.

Tent: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DXYMSMM/ - $175
Lights: 2 of these - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PLYR5HG/ - $270ea
(These come with the hangers and timers and temp gauges)
1 of these - https://www.amazon.com/MARS-HYDRO-Commercial-Hydroponic-Greenhouse/dp/B07VPF7KKR/ - $479
Vent Fan: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074XBXFPD/ - $150
Carbon Filter: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YXPZR4P/ - $65
Hose: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0791V19H7/ - $25
Fan: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FXOFM56/ - $25

That takes you to just under $1,500. You'll need the other $500 for stuff like fabric pots, medium, tools, PH meters, nutrients, and a million other do-dads that pop up here and there.

Oh...and seeds. Plan on $150 for those to get you started there. Order from either Seedsman.com (site sponsor) or HomeGrownCannabisCo.com - Both have a great selection of Autos if you choose to go that direction, and I've had no issues shipping to a "red state" thus far. They both also give you a lot of free seeds with your order, and often will do BOGO sales.

Good luck and PM me if you have any questions!
He wants 5lb your setup could do 1.5lb on a good grow so yeah he's going to have to triple his budget

Hi
I am medical so I can only bud 6 at a time.
I started out with 1 2x4 grow tent $50 and 1 1000 LED dimmable $150. That's my clone/seed tent. Them my grow bud tents are
2 4x4 tents with 1 each 1000 white flat panel lights. Total start up cost with seed, cost was $1300. I had nothing to add on hand so my next costs were fans and pH test kit and nutrients.
Another $250. As time goes I've added or changed things to meet my ladies needs.

Step 1 : Buy a Tent.
Step 2 : Buy an HPS or LED
Step 3 : Buy 5 or 7 gallon buckets
Step 4 : Buy a 'soft soil'. If you can choose, go with Happy Frog over Ocean Forest. Buy whatever is the fluffiest, air-iest mix you can find. the lighter the better. It should have plenty of perlight. With healthy growing plants, this mix should dry out a 5 gallon plant in 2-3 days.
Step 5 : Get a decent set of feminized seeds.
Step 6 : Get a fan or two
Step 7 : Get Ph test Drops and an organic 'ph down' for your tap water
Step 8 : Get some premium top dressing ammendments for your soil. Try to include worm castings if they are available.

My only reply is learn the plants if you don't already know them. it's a lot different from smoking and growing...so many variables that will predict the outcome of the yield and potency...and there's nothing worst than a huge worthless yield
one mistake at the wrong time can be costly..now i'm not saying it can't be done..but reading these plants can get tricky at times..wish you well jm2c..

I just pulled 2.5 out of my 5x5 full of autoflowers. I have 3 carbon filters so about 400 bucks into that. A double ended 1000w hps air cooled setup which i have 600$ into including the 4 different high end bulbs i have for it. I have a 100$ amazon LED for sprouts. Some fans 60$. PH meter 150$. Dehumidifier 150$. Little things like hygrometers, bubbler for water rez, pruners, scissors, etc all add up. Fabric pots are about 30$ every grow. Dirt is about 150$ every grow. Electric for my grow runs about 125$ a month. So for me to resetup everything and complete one grow would cost over 2K. Considering you will be running air conditioners and up to 4 1000w lights, you could be looking at over 700 a month in electric alone.

Stick to a single 4x8 and maybe a veg tent.

There are so many grow room setup threads.... search them.

Also, how much power do you have going to this garage? Running 2 4x8s with 2 1000w in each and air conditioners.... your going to need like 80 amps when your running full tilt. My 5x5 setup is running about 12 amps with just the one light and no air conditioner.

My name is Rob. I'm in KY where this sh*t isn't legal (yet) but the wife has Crohns disease and it helps with her nausea and pain.
Anyways, thanks to this damn virus and the stimulus check coming, I have a wife approved $2000 budget for a grow in our detached garage.
I'd like to make it as simple as possible but also want to get as much yield as possible (5lbs) and was thinking of setting up two 4x8 tents with LEDs.
I'm open to any and all suggestions. I'm a long time smoker but I've just never had a chance to grow my own until now, so I'm excited.
I will keep this thread going with pictures of my progress along the way. Win or lose this will be fun and a good learning experience for me.

1st Step: Find seeds and purchase all equipment needed...
Hey man i understand where your coming from but please do not go that big that fast start with a 2x4 or 4x4 tent than get a dit kit from horticultural lighting group for lights from there you'll want to try and find the best growing method that suits you. Id hate and see some one to try and go big and fail or have issues when its easy to solve and dial in problems in a small scale. A 2x4 tent should fit 2 to 3 plants at 3 to 4 + oz each and if you can do that then go big trust me crawl b4 walk..any questions i can help but it may be overwhelming going to big to fast

Do what you want, but I think you're going to need three of those. I looked into them. Read reviews and watched YouTube vids...nearly pulled the trigger. Reviews here are mixed as well. Decent lights, but I don't think you're going to be happy with just two. Most guys agree that given the light's footprint, one of those would be good for a 3X3. Two in a 4X8 is going to be under-powered. If you're stuck on LED, go for 2 TSW3000s like I suggested. OR go HPS as it'll be less money and give you more light output.

That tent is a lot more complicated than you're going to need. It has two areas for seedlings that you don't have light for, so you either need to add a few more lights, or get a different tent. You're also wasting space on the "veg area" (that you don't have lights for) and you won't get that many plants in the main area, as 3' of the footprint is take up by it.

This is the tent that most of us are using: It's less expensive, and made for what you're doing. Put the savings into a better fan.

You're going to regret that fan purchase. Simply put: It's garbage. After about 4 weeks, it'll be loud as hell...or stop working altogether. This one is the best you can get, not much more $, and It'll also save the need to buy a heat controller as it's got a bad-ass one built in. (You're going to want a heat controller.):

I posted a link in here earlier with the fan, carbon filter, and tubing you'll need.

Good luck!

Exactly, omg i left my high bay lights on in the shop and they sent a chopper to let me know!!

Ive had great luck with the vivosun fans with built in controllers. But yes the AC Infinity are top dog.

Yes there is. But you have fans in them which is distributing the heat into the tent/grow space. Still heat, you just cant feel it.

Besides choppers can only detect surface temps of hot roofs not the internal temp of your tent.

Anyway, makes no difference to me what you grow with, but LEDs don't defy physics dude.
