no mapping.i just run a mix of hps and mh @ roughly 55w per square foot .12kw room .i do own a lux meter and have taken readings from all over the place and i dont have many low light areas.but i run some gavita hung at 9 feet and some cooltubes that almost touch the plants,on movers.lil bit of everything now with the cobs

Would a COB not be more effective in this manner? I would think itd be more ideal to spread out those xp-gs for better coverage if you were going to use so many individuals. Thinking out loud.

That's what I was trying to say. Even 2 sets of leds at each end with soften the hot spot. You what to aim for somewhere between 18" to 30" (36" max) off the canopy and the taller your light the shorter the distance needs to be. @ 500 watts ( 30 watts per square foot) that light needs to cover a 4'x4' area. If you run it @ 300 watts it can cover a 3'x3' much more effectively. When I use mine, I only run it around 250w or less.
Set up you light 2' off the floor and let us know what the readings are 2' from center, I will bet it isn't over 800. All those reflectors that you have available, are designed to be 6'-50' in the air. Very few are design for 18" to 30" and even coverage.

its all over the place,i run perpetual with 8 or more dif strains all the time.i dont keep any type of logs here and try to push shit out the door as fast as possible lol.im prob averaging 18oz on the mk but i been runnin this bitch a minute,i have others that ill be lucky to see 10 or 12 oz from.i just focus on keeping my rooms full and harvesting plants as soon as they finish,then poppin a replacement in its spot that day.we do mostly 8 to 9 week strains and run 12 to 16 plants in flower so theres times when we are chopping 2 per week then we might get a 10 day break sometimes if the plants change their minds on when they will finish for me but i try to average a plant every 4 to 5 days when possible

Does the cable length from the driver to the board matter in any way?

Like is it possibly to move the LED drivers out of the grow area by having a long cable?

I agree each one I'm measuring is about 20c over ambient.
I guess as they are like 90% efficient and together they are puling 500w the heat must be about 50w. Is that right?

Like a big aquarium heater on full blast or a bit less than the flame from a candle

well if your not in a hot climate its nice to have some heat for the plants,but one thing i never figured out is how long of a lead can we really run with these led drivers.when you buy a digital hps ballast they almost always list the lead length on them,it used to be 15 feet for most.then some started advertising lengths up to 65 feet.im not sure on the meanwell hgl series but i figure we should be good to 15 feet ?

I need to get some red's ordered this week, should I stick with the cree XP-E or look at Osram? Is there anyone else with good efficiency I really should look at? How many reds should I swap out?

I am using osram oslon ssl 9 pieces pre-mounted on pcb each around 9 euro came to me from my local retailer
There 4 pcb attached to each other 2 pcbs are blues and others red but your 200 pcs are look extra!!!
Oslon ssl has also pretty good reputation, since crees cobs are more famous and qualified but oslon has pretty decent horticultural red spectrums

I would assume voltage drop would be the only concern. But Im not sure about distances. Tried a calculator online, and it seemed the drop over distances you would be remotely mounting a driver from would be negligible.

I understand anodizing is a great way to stop aluminum from corroding, but is there any reason why black anodizing is chosen for heatsink's as apposed to any other color like white? Is it to hide the dirt more?
