Background:
Strain: Blue Dream, from clone
Enviroment: indoor with (4) 400 watt hps. Soil grow in 5 gal pots in foxfarm ocean forest with subcools soil ( 1/3 on bottom ) in and 8ft. x 8 ft. flower room.
Nutriants: as needed, Alaskan fish ferts, FloraNova Bloom, and molassas.
Growing in an outbuilding, so temp control is not ideal, 60 deg low in the coldest part of winter, to a high of around 80 deg. No control over humidity, but plenty of air circulation with three fans exchanging the humid inside air with filtered outdoor air.
Problem:
I've grown several strains befor, and never had this problem. ( White Widow, Pure Power Plant, C-99 ). All of my other strains flowered at about the time that is common to the strain, but my blue dreams took twice as long to flower than the 10 weeks that is common to the breed. I put them into flower in the middle/ late January and am just starting to harvest today ( 6/17/11 ) I checked the trichs every day and , and checked the plant for hermis, and other problems. The plants got nice and fat colas, but the trichs remained mostly clear. Then they started to get a secondary growth out of the buds ( not sure what they are called, crowning? dreadlocks?) Finally showd amber trichs the other day, chopped them today. No seeds or other signs of Herming on any of the plants.
Anybody have an Idea of what causes slow maturation? Temps? Ferts? Lighting?
I have had strains go a week or 3 longer than the usual flowering befor, but never twice as long.
