20 plant 1 per ft² sog grow (SOG growers advice please)

Hey rollitup just looking for some sog growers here. I'm wanting to do a 20 plant extended sog grow. So my plan is to have 1 plant per square foot instead of the usual 2-4 in a standard sog. I'm wondering how long I should veg my plants to fill this space. My plants will be lollipopped and taken from a mother. My clone rate turnover is roughly 10 days for a developed root ball on jiffys.

Trying to workout how long I should veg the plants once the clones have taken root to make the most out of the space. I dont want to grow more then 20 plants in the area because honestly I cant be bothered with that much repoting etc. I have about 6 1/2 feet of height so not too worried about height. I have mainly indica favored hybrids. Wondering if I veg for 2 or 3 weeks or longer thanks!

Assuming identical clones it all depends on the strain but 10 - 14 days sounds like the ballpark. 3 weeks and you might end up with small trees. But strain can make a big difference, all depends how stretchy and bushy they are.

Yeah did one 3.5 weekish grow and didn't lollipop properly and it turned into a domino grow with heaps of stringy branches everywhere

i just did slightly over that, 24 in 20sf. @Renfro is right 10-14 days is probably max if your veg environment is dialed. when in doubt i would err on smaller side. i let one round veg a little too long and it just meant lots more defol the whole flower cycle.

also like renfro said, depends on strain. i lucked out on my last run and got some cornstalk BOG sour bubble crosses that fit pretty nice. i had a different bushier Sour Bubbble x GDP i ran first that self topped and made mini bushes. Much harder to dial in. if you have any idea of how they will stretch, the rule of thumb i read some old timer give is that in a sog the plants should be about 1/2 the diameter you want them to end up at. so imagine the plants in your space, and plan for when they finish stretch that they will be touching. otherwise if the canopy is already full when u flip them u are going to have a a jungle on your hands.

Do you guys recommend lollipopping right up to the last 1-2 nodes? How high do you guys lollipop?

my first sog ended up way too bushy so dont want that happening again

i was scared to go that high i usually left at least 3 or 4 but if i did it again and wanted strictly tops i probably would go to 2. or at least try a few that way to see how they turned out.

sog was awesome it yielded me a ton i just realized how much more work it is and im switching back to less plants with more veg time.

Sour Bubble is still one of my all-time favorite strains, BOG is one of the best!

Geeze. I always went by size of the plant as when to flip....

Height and "SOG" doesn't go together.

Hmm, got out notes from the late 80's. Looks like I did a lot of training BY trimming on those 1 foot try's. Old photo's show them as a "ball" like plant structure on about a 1-12 inch main stem.

Says that I would SCROG like trim, to create a basically level canopy.

It's after that, that the return to 4inch rockwools and no spacing was pretty quickly done.

Say. If you really have that much height to work with. Why not do 2 levels of run in the same space? That will dbl you're yield.... I would use GOOD LED's and close environmental control...

While "strain" is important to a point. The point being, that you use a good producing plant, that doesn't stretch a lot. Things like about anything from the cookies family wouldn't be the best choice

I'm about to sog these g13s got 8 seedlings going 12 more germinating probably veg for like 3-4 weeks

my girls @week 2 are around 35cm+- reckon thats big enough since my grow space is roughly 2m

the reason I wanted to veg longer was almost like doing a scrog method but using more plants to fill the canopy so its less veg time and less wait between cycles. Currently trying to do a 2 week perpetual grow.

if 2 weeks is your goal then you know your veg time. 2weeks then kick to 12/12 room, will take you probably 16 weeks to get first, then they should finish 2 weeks a peice assuming your dealing with clone cuts that you can anticipate the result from. it will be very difficult doing perpetual from seed

Right now my canopy is quite uneven in height due to different strains I was given. I have now turned 1 of each into mothers and once I get my initial harvest I will select what ones I keep so I get rid of that issue.

Right now around week 2 I average around 12-16" growth in soil so think I'll just run with that until everything's dialed in and maybe experiment some more when I know how long the strains take to harvest so I know how long my cycles can be etc
