20 gallon fabric pot experiences

Hi its that time of year again! I have my babies started indoor for about a week now. I have grown outdoors many years in pots as well as right in the ground. I have decided to up my game this year and grow about 15 20 gal fabric pots. I live in northern hemisphere where frost is a danger well into may. Hence the reason I start growing them indoors in march. Is there anyone who has similar conditions/experiences or any experience/opinions/advice/ yield geowing in 20 gallon smart pots outdoors. I will be using FFOF for soil and FF nutes. I will be transplanting into 20 gal pots from 2 gal pots. My primary concern is expenses for soil and what kind of yields I should look forward too.. any information or replies is appreciated.. thanks in advance

Oh those look nice.. I couldn't remember old ID when trying to get back on rollitup but created new account. I have used this site for years before though. (When I first got into growing) site is a GREAT resource. Just waiting until I can start a grow journal for the first time.. I've never really documented many of my grow but will be keeping close eyes on them this year as I'm going for my largest grow yet. Wish me luck

Fabric pots work great I've used them for few years.. Only thing I don't like about them they dry out lil too fast and getting home from work sometimes I don't feel like visiting the garden lol.. The state I live in is in a water drought so I try to conserve water as much as possible. I do prefer fabric over plastic but I'll be using plastic for a while

Yeah I will be doing a guerrila grow on the edge of a pond... great spot with good openings along the edge of it.. putting them on south side of it for max rays.. I have also heard that the water from ponds can be almost like a tea itself with different beneficial bacteria as long as ph levels are watched... used pond water last year but had a late start and some grow busts so my plants last year got neglected and all went hermy.. lost my whole crop.. only good thing is that they were given to me by a friend and he told me that they were feminized critical jack from dynafem... so I have thousands of seeds that should technically be feminized if the hermy's pollinated females right?? I've done tons of research to find that out but never fou d exact answer...I know females can be forced to pollinate other females but isn't that the same as a hermy pollinating other females?

I use them for stealth and the ability to move them as we're still not legal here. imo they're great, I ran 2x 10gal's last year and pulled 21 oz. between them. The root system they build allows for very large plants. If you can go larger like 15-20 gal you'll get longer times in between watering, but they get heavy if you need to move them around. That was the only downside to large trained plants in the 10gal's, for the last 6 weeks or so I had to water them every 36-48 hours.

Oh nice those are beauties... what kind of soil/nutes/training/feeding schedule. I won't have a problem watering them everyday to every other day. If I get 5 pounds out of 15 twenty gallon fabric pots ill be happy... that is if I get any less ill be disappointed

The yield is primarily guided by genetics, these are my own cross of JTR x Blueberry and a pheno that has great mould/PM resistance. With training these get close to 1 oz per gallon of medium indoor or outdoor. I use 50% pro-mix/50% triple mix and when they get into flowering I supplement feeds every 2nd or 3rd watering at 500-600 ppm with whatever I have around, going to use Jack's this year. I veg them indoor for 2-3 weeks in 3 or 5gal, then another 2 weeks in the 10gal to get them to a decent size. Once they go outdoor I put some vertical bamboo trellises I grab at the dollar store to spread them out and keep them low, then super-crop and FIM a couple of times before they start flowering. Much the same method I use indoor, just longer veg/training time. We have a short window outdoor here, end of May to end of September so the jump-start indoor helps.

Ok yeah this strain has only grown in my area once outdoors and like I posted above they went hermy on me... I am in same boat with growing season.. I started mine indoor about a week ago to get them going before going outside for that reason.. I usually try to get them to 2 ft before transplanting to outdoors. Here is a pic of the girls.. just got done watering for the day.. they have only been sprouted out of soil for about 4 days.. going to let them grow as is for another 2 weeks then put in 2 gallon pots and start nuting them.. I am also going to attempt to do trelising on outside of pots with fencing this year... usually I just prune and lollipop them

Yeah the only reason they hermi though is because of really late start and I didnt check them for like 2 weeks during the hottest part of the season... They got very stressed but I couldnt check as the five-0 were flying a chopper around for like a week and I got spooked. :(

I've been lurking here for 5-6 years now myself and finally created an account last Fall that I am actually active on. You should definitely start a journal, it'll help you get more involved in the site and get to know people better.

I started my first grow journal here last month and since then I have been active more then a few times a day and I love it here, tons of great folks!

I gotta grow a pair of balls and go to one of these RIU bbq meetings one day, it'd be cool to meet some of the people here.

Just being straight up with you, I doubt you'll get 5 pounds off of 15-20 gallon smart pots. Most people I see pulling 5 LBS + are people using 200+ gallon smart pots. That would be really tight though. Best of luck!
