2 weeks into flowering -- keep doing LST?

Hello growers,

This is my first grow, and my best plant, which so far is trained with a nice canopy. Here is a pic from a few days ago of the type of training I've been doing. Basically, tying down branches.

Here she is yesterday. 43 Days Old and 12 days into flower.

I could use some guidance on LST and best approach to caring for my plant in regards to training. It seems to make sense to keep spreading the branches out for light penetration during flowering, but it also seems to make sense to just let her do the stretch thing now, and just grow up rather than keep tying her down. Maybe now I will just do more spreading out and less tying down, if that makes sense. How concerned about an 'even canopy' should I remain?

Also, should I trim away the really small shoots? Thin it out a bit?

Any advise from experienced growers is very much appreciated. :-) Many thanks!

Depends on the strain. My sour og can get lanky as hell. I.continue to tie that biltch down sometimes up to 10 days in to 12-12. Short and stocky is what i try to achieve with my sativa dominant stretchy varieties. Because they jump no matter what. And my 6.5 foot tall basements cant handle slacking on canopy management. Plus my yields go up alot. I tried the packing in SOG technique with sour and a few others. She doesn't yield that well without some good veg time. But its a catch 22. Long veg they get too tall. Short veg and you got to flip a shitload of them. To get a bunch of smaller buds. Solution: tie and top vigorously with a longer veg and tie down slightly more in early flower. A nice flat even canopy of tops with less plant numbers. I "puzzle piece" them in when they first get flipped. Again - NICE EVEN FLAT CANOPY. Bigger yields every time. Foliar spraying nitrozime and bioag fulpower in veg and early flower once a week helps immensely. Best additive and only real additive you really need to get bushes. Often overlooked. But kelp/fulvic foliar once a week for the win. Better than any booster, carb, silica, you name it. Ive used them all too!!!!

My glue cut i can get into a short bushy ass gal in veg with aggressive canopy management. Left to her own she would be just a lanky god awful mess with low yields. I dont SCROG anymore because i never veg in the same room as flowering. Its just too expensive of an electric bill anymore. But glue is a perfect candidate for the scroggers out there. BTW......your on the rite track with the training you gave that lady. If shes a stretcher you did good. Thats
what u want. Should give up some ounces for sure!!!

I have a Super Lemon Haze plant and I stopped bending the branches at the end of week 3 of flowering. I did this because the stems started to break on me. In my opinion you could continue until you snap your first stem, than let them do their thing.

Thats funny. I just snapped a few wishbone structured plants 2 weeks ago. I just use duct tape and spray a little nitrozime down in the crevice where they broke. If you get on it and tape them immediately after snapping they dont even skip a beat. But you have to move fast. Best to keep tape and nzime rite by your side when aggressively tying down big thick branches. Ive broken branches completely in half rite at the "crotch" just hanging by the outer skin and did quick tape jobs. 10 days later there is a big "knuckle" and you you can remove the tape. Helps to have super vigorous healthy and jamming plants to start with.

Keep doing what you're doing. You can lst all the way up to week 3 if you need.

You do want to give yourself some space below the canopy, just to make watering a little easier. I lollipop all the way up to the 3rd-4th node and remove anything that might end up as popcorn in the end.

^^here is the same plant at week 5 of flower. If you train it properly in veg you really won't have to do much training in flower. I try to train and prune as little as possible in flower. I want all of its energy going into flowering as opposed to healing or "bouncing back".

Good luck and happy growing

Thanks Everyone! As my first grow, I appreciate very much the insight from experienced growers. :-)

@Gary Goodson
Yesterday, DeLaHaze is 46 Days Old and 15 days into flower. Doing the stretchy thing, which seems normal for sativa.

I'm continuing to train it by cinching the branches down a bit. This time, I moved my tie down closer to the trunk of the plant instead of the ends. I'm just letting the ends grow up now. You can see what I mean in this pic, the branch emanating from just lower of center to the left is tied down with a red pipe cleaner to the pot's edge (drilled holes are much better than duct tape ;-). If you look close the branch coming straight at you from just off center right is also tied down with a black pipe cleaner. You can see how I previously trained it to grow most horizontal, I would tie down the end. Now the end is growing up, and I'm just pulling the whole branches down to spread open the canopy for as much light penetration as possible.

I have not done any of the trimming or thinning you suggest prior. Do you think I should go ahead trim back the smaller shoots at this point, or just let her ride?

Yes, I would trim up the bottom a little bit. I remove leaves and shoots that are too close to the soil or pot. Not only will it help when watering, but it also increases air flow as well.

Check out the first pic I posted to get an idea of how I clean it up. I basically strip it down. I would also look up lollipoping before you start your trimming. Dont worry about not trimming enough, you still have about a week to trim/train.

Post a pic after if you don't mind

Thanks again, @Gary Goodson

Sorry for the delay, due to the stealth nature of my grow, I could not attend to the plant until today. I took some photos :-)

The DeLaHaze is 50 days old today, and has been in flower 19 days. This is her this morning, before trimming

I'm was very light with the trimming. I have checked out lollipoping and understand the basics, I just feel reluctant to cut up too far.

Originally, she was "cropped" by a falling lamp at about 3-4 weeks old all the way down to the second node. ;-) ... this also put the plant close to the ground surface.

Here is the undergrowth before trimming:

and so, I cut a lot of this stuff off

looks cleaner down below now

missed a spot or two

then I put her back in the tent and trained down some of the taller branches and cinched down the main ones to continue to open the canopy up

I had just moved my LEDs up a few inches, but it's stretching up so fast I'm going to have to move it up again soon

Luckily, I was able to save the top piece that was broken off with the lamp. It took root, and is growing in a separate veg area of my closet. I already started training down the sides, and cropped the ends (trying to veg those end cuttings now, too!).
Here she is:

Thanks again for all the tips!
Happy growing!

After finishing up, I noticed some small sign of distress, starting to show up in only one are of the Haze.

Since I'm growing in soil, I don't have a ph meter, but after checking, I think I may run to Lowes just to get a cheapo.

I've in a 40/60 Perlite/Happy Frog mix, feeding Earth Juice products, lightly ... except, by accident I over fed Meta-K 0-0-10 recently, but not a drastic amount

Can anyone help with what trouble this is, and how to stop it from spreading??

I'm not an expert, but I am having a similar issue. After investigating my particular issue, I have diagnosed it as a calcium-magnesium deficiency. I ordered some cali-magic to fight the problem. A little about my issue, I started to see "rustic" style dots on my leaves. At first, it was only the bottom of the leaves. Since I was around week 4 of flowering I thought this was normal as I have read that the lower leaves will eventually die due to lack of light, or the plant itself using the leaves as energy storage, as the plant uses the energy the leaves die. However, once I started to notice the "rustic" style dots appearing on my top leaves I investigated further. Now, to my knowledge, just because you have these "dots," it doesn't mean you have BOTH a calcium and magnesium deficiency. I may have this mixed up, but if I remember correctly, the lower leaves with dots represent a magnesium def., while top leaves represent a calcium def. It is possible to have both, but most people falsely believe that calcium AND magnesium is one, single deficiency. Again, this is just my opinion on my issue. It may not be yours, but at least you have a starting point. Good luck!

Yup.....thats textbook canopy management in a nutshell. Nice plant.
Tried that with outdoor sour d bitch won’t stop growing. She’s 6’ tall did a couple sour d like this. Got 2 pounds off that single sour d I the 27gallon container inside. The first pic was a nasty blueberry I saved from a friend 012DBA98-C87C-403A-9124-B0E23FC8EFE8.jpeg76DD6FD6-8D0E-411F-8266-54F967415529.jpeg787DC76D-5E65-4ED7-B2F7-F222D5783B3E.jpeg57737193-7039-4920-806E-696468AC71E1.jpeg929CD75B-13A0-4308-BC65-412DBA260DD1.jpeg
